  • Need help for a new bike???

Guys I currently own a TVS Apache RTR Fi which has done about 8200 KMs, though I loved driving every minute of it, Of late it is taking a toll on my back as I now travel close to 55 KMs everyday. Thanks to the Clip-On Handlebars

I am looking for a bike that can balance good city driving with an excellent driving position and that can also give me the thrills when I twist the throttle.

I was looking at the RE Thunderbird TS, but am worried about the Build Quality and Service. (Really having a horrible time with TVS service). Are there other options out there??? I am willing to wait for a new model if any are in the pipeline.

What about the zma. Good comfort, proven reliability, and it is a good handler in city too. And as you mentioned you can wait for the new karizma which is in the pipeline. Chears !!

^ +1 The new version of ZMA (karizma ZMR) is speculated to be launched in either august or september. Also try the new 220 dts-i.... the riding posture is quite comfortable.

ZMA is surely a good bike. +1 to that.

You could also have a look at Suzuki's GS150. Very comfortable, good handling in city and decent fuel efficiency too. You could read the GS150 thread for user comments.

@joshua : It would have been easy if you had given us some hint about cc/power/budget...
.....anyways my one line answer would be 'go for unicorn', you can try GSR as well, both are 'super commuters' and can fit into variety of tasks including touring and long distance commuting. Both are built for 5+ years. Though GSR beats Uni in terms of features and 6th gear, Uni has some strong +ves as well, proven mill, A.S.S network is more than Suzuki and superior handling.

Xtreme and Hunk could be other alternatives. Zma would be a very good upgrade as well (present Zma-R)*.

Most important point is to test drive the bikes till satisfaction before arriving at final decision.

(*) So far there is only speculation and no concrete news about New Zma, even if New zma is a reality, it would cost more as per additional features.

Go for the uni or gs. If you need more power you can try out the 220 dts-i.

@vipin_s You really do like the Unicorn.. do you own one?

@thread_starter Since you are looking to upgrade from RTR-FI.. you wouldnt be satisfied with lower powered bikes like Unicorn/GS150R or for that matter.. any of the 150s. Test ride the P220DTSi, it has a much better riding position than the Apache (so that rules out Apache 180 too).

If you are really looking for mileage instead.. look at Unicorn / GS150R and nothing else.

Unicorn is not a Low Powered Bike, Its still got 13.3Bhp with 149cc Engine, Stock Uni can smoke out any 150cc Indian Bike

Since You ride 55 Kms a Ride and looking for Bike with good handling and Power I would suggest ZMA or new P220
Since you already have a 150cc Bike better go for 200cc+

he has mentioned provide thrills, so he will def expect the bike to atleast perform as much as the RTR-FI and none of the above will provide him the thrills. Check the ZMA or the P220 or wait for the new ZMA, it is definitely coming in another couple of months.

Not really , its the least powered 150cc bike . Pulsar150 ,CBZ/hunk ,GSR ,RTR all are faster machines

Ok as per your travel need you should get a commuter bike like Honda unicorn & Suzuki GS150R for your everyday need were you cover more than 50 km,both bikes should return a decent 50+ kmpl.
Ps:do you mind coming down to 150cc bike from 160cc bike ?

Seating position is all according to ur seating position IMHO! I guess ur not sitting properly. I have just toured on the RTR for 3K kms and found no issues. R15 has a much more aggressive posture and am fine with it on long rides or city commutes! So try adjusting r seating posture. If ur still not satisfied, u have run out of options. Get urself a new bike then!
