hey guys......im plannin to buy a new bike....but im really confused abt whether i shud go in for the ZMA/ZMR or R15 or fz/fazer or cbz xtreme with k&n filter and jetted carb......
    i was earlier using a CBZ*.....n i enjoyed ridin d byk...i've been ridin d byk for d past 1 year...so im not a beginner....
im 6'1''....n my primary interest is touring on my bike....i also indulge in stuntin once in a while(very rarely) .....i love the d bike to have a high bhp....n gud handlin with a comfortabl ride....
im not listin apache 180 coz im not comfortabl with it for long rides...n i dnt want any bajaj byk....
    SO PLEASE HELP ME DECIDE.....
    i hav the foll doubts:-
-Is R15 comfortabl for a city ridin n tourin for a guy over 6feet tall???
-wat mileage will a k&n fitted cbz-xtreme with a jetted carb give me???
-will the new karizma wich comes next month hav a higher bhp than the current 1???
-also would like 2 kno monthly maintenance of the bikes
    -is fz better or fazer???

i want the byk to return anything above35-40kmpl....budget is secondary....bt i want a byk wich wil b with me for atleast nxt 5-6 yrs.....in good engine condition.....

i would be waitin n really thankful to al my fellow XBHPians for their advice....pls help

          hai dude my suggestion

R15 - very good bike , the best bike available in India .Super refined engine and high reliability but if you are interested in Touring this is not your bike . With all respect to R15 , it is not designed for touring
You can do touring on R15 for sure but there are bikes which offer you more comfort .

ZMA - The best touring bike available India , It is not as powerful or as fast as P 220 but it is the best bike you can get in india for touring.
The engine is so relaxed and you can go at 110 full day without any fuss
if you want . The comfort level is simply superb .Whole over India many xbhpians took Zma to different types of roads and extreme conditions
the bike never dissaponted any one as far as i know .
Offeres reasonable milleage too . Only negative point i have about htis bike is high maitainance cost and having more plastic parts . But comparing to the advatanges it has it is not at all a problem .(besides for the first two years you need not worry about maintenance since the bike will be under warranty ). Arange a ZMA from any of your frineds and try crusing at 5 K rpm (on 80 km/hr) on a high way , you will realize what i am telling . In high ways once you hit the 5 th gear the bike is like a grearless scooter meanign no need to chnage the gear you can vary the speed from 40 to 130 on 5 th gear ..The 5 thgear on ZMA is so much tall ..

CBZ extreme and fazer and FZ - They are good bikes but after all they are just 150 cc . They are good but cannot be compared to the comfort level offered by ZMA

and regarding the K & N airfilter and upjetting , my humble request to you is plz dont do that Mod to your new bike even thouhg it gives you better pick up it will kill your engine fast and affect relaibility .If you go for ZMa the bike in stock condition itslef have more than enough power and pick up for touring (if you are a drag racer you can go for it ) Please dont put all of these Mods in to ur new engine and reduce its life . it is I am not an expert on this but i many of my friends regreted on putting all this mods to their bike . Even tough the bike will get more pick up you will loose the smothness of the bike .. Just my humle openion

By the way forgot to mention about new ZMR coming next month
If you are ready to spend more than 1 lakh you can wait for ZMR
It will be worth w8ing . But if your budget is restricted around 80-85
go for existing ZMA - R (before they stop it )

              1. Comfort depends on many factors, age, kms of driving, kind of traffic, how well body can match to bike's ergo etc etc. I suggest you borrow a R15 and ride it to feel the 'truth'. Anyways compared to CBZ-X R15 would be uncomfortable for city driving.
              2. Less than 40kmpl.
              3. To me it's still speculation, but if you have time it's worth waiting as many are hoping
              4. Depends on many factors, kms done, ripping factor, etc etc If you are driving 30 kms a day...under normal driving (mild ripping) maintainence would be very low, oil change every 6000kms, just need to top-up in between, disc pads replacement depends on riding habits. No other notable maintainence required, but if you rip, be ready for higher maintainence costs.
              5. FZ and Fazer are same...serving to people of different tastes, FZ-naked/street, Fazer-tourer/street(poser too).
              6. OK
              7. Here we go !! You want higher performance from 150cc bike and bike should last 6 years ? I suggest you go for Zma or wait for Zma-R (that depends on your budget), Zma-R is good buy even today, ZMR will be priced quite high as per features added.

So finally, I would say wait for a month or so and hope for ZMR or close your eyes and go for Zma-R.

when you have Zma and R15 in your list,cbz-x or any other 150cc bike can be dropped IMO...and I request you not to go for engine mods. The current Zma is quite a bike and you won't go wrong with it.If you're ready to wait for a couple of months, the Zmr should be a great buy...R15 too is an awesome machine...my advice.have a TD of both...
It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

@ jithu . very well explained.. i too agree the ZMA is a very comfortable bike for touring as i own one.

@raj... pls be more specific about ur touring plans.. if you are a full time tourer then only there are these knick knacks you need to worry about otherwise if you are just a normal tourer who goes to places once in a while types then you could very well pick up the R15. its a very good bike both for city and touring too.. and will meet most of ur needs.
