Correction :: P220 DTSi was out of my list because of low mileage. I need a mileage of above 40kmpl. So, the two bikes left are P180 UG4 and A180 RTR
My personal points of consideration to go for the RTR 180 and not P180 UG4 :
      • I want a bike with the rear disc brake -- RTR 180 got it but P180 UG4 doesn't.
      • Flickability in traffic or we can say sharp handling is also preferred. I have driven P200 which I suppose is the same in handling as P180. I also took a test drive of A180 RTR and found it to handle better.
      • A bike with a persona related to madness, etc. is appreciated by me. RTR = Menace(may sound odd ... but ...).
      • Performance-wise too the RTR 180 excells the P180 in terms of acceleration and top speed. So what I get is a "Performance Bike" too.
      • Presence of a kick start in RTR but not in Pulsar 180.
      • Moreover, I see around a lot many Pulsars buzzing around. So, considering the exclusivity factor too I switched to Apache RTR 180.
      • I also like the build quality provided by TVS as I have driven almost all pulsars and apaches.(Strictly Personal)

All above factors are strictly personal and may vary person to person. Correct me if am wrong anywhere.
Hope I throw some light and make your choise-making easy.
      Peace...

          Test Ride : Impressions

          Hi All,

Today went to Sai Auto Services, Andheri(W) for a test drive of Pulsar 220 .

          Impressions :
They gave me a Black P220.
They've let me drive the bike only with in their premises . Probably 200m overall.

I felt the pickup is quite good, but wasn't able to experience anything else as i had to be in 2nd gear only (coz of the short distance i rode the bike for ).

The bike felt heavy, but i think for my height and body build the bike fitted well. The seating position though is sporty, i didn't find it too uncomfortable (although just with that short ride i can't be very conclusive).

But one serious problem i encountered was, regarding, the gear box. I just wasn't able to find neutral and bringing the gear from 1st to 2nd was very tough. I had to use lot of "toe" force to achieve that. The salesman tried to reason with me that it's a test drive bike and hundreds of customers have ridden it, that's why it's in the condition.

Though i wouldn't argue that point, can anybody tell me if they faced gear box problems with their P220s ?

I was about to book it, but after this test ride now am in two minds . Please somebody clarify this for me.
