How much is the quote for the machismo? Earlier machismo's have the same Cast Iron engine as the std 350s and electras. Have you taken a ride on all of these?
If you dont want to deal with all that you have mentioned above, you should be looking elsewhere!
Else, go for the CI engine ones if you want the traditional feel and the newer machismos or tbirds if you want a faster spinning engine.

How about Hero Honda Karizma - it is a great bike for highway as well as city riding. No engine problems, oil leaks or vibrations, etc etc.

As regards a second hand Bullet - if you don't know anything about Bullets:

......... Then how will you make a choice of best quality second hand bike ?

Year of Make could be 2007 and the bike could get f***ed up in a single year - so I suggest you get in touch with a Bullet Owner OFFLINE and see his Expenses and Troubles and then decide whether you want a second-hand White Elephant.

I am happy with my Bullet Electra 4S so far

Bullet is of course not a trouble free bike; it seeks a lot of attention from the user.

Buddy my personal suggestion would be to go for New Bullet instead of 2nd hand bullet as it will provide hassle free ride, as earlier bullets did had some oil leaks issue.

no i have not ridden any of these, i have a mech out here he only envolves himself in english bikes and bullets. he told me no to go for the machismo because its a flop model and + some other reasons . He told me to go for a standard bullet cause that is total vfm . every penny spen on it gives you satisfaction . so machismo is ruled out from my stable ..
i will be going tomorrow to check out the standard models . till den i have my fingers crossed

hey ankur the reason that i dont want to go for a new bullet is because it doesnt have that old feel . i dont want a very much refined engine when it comes to a bullet. i want a bullet with the vice versa gear n brake . i have allways had a feeling of having a old bullet . so thats the only reason why i dont want to go in for a new bullet .. The 2nd reason is that im going to be buyin another bike say by may or something . 200cc +

Then you should be checking out the std 350 or the electra 4s. Both have cast iron engine, with the solid thump and come with gear lever on right n brake on left. However std 350 runs on cb points ignition while the electra 4s runs on tci ignition. IIRC, the earlier std 350 s have a heavier crank, and are thereby torquier.
AS for what the mechs say, the less said the better. True they know a lot about these bikes, but when they push the std 350, its also because they see future business. And these guys are not so familiar with the newer avl engined machismos or the tci equipped electras(whose ignition is prob free).

                      Hi rickyshh!

Hey bud, not to hurt your personal opinions, but then you are a little mistaken about the "lot of attention" part. Just because some proud owners take pride in keeping their Bullets shining & well-maintained, doesn't mean the bike needs lot of attention. And as far as trouble-free goes, everything has some troubles at one point or the other, you may face them or not.

And please refrain from giving a statement, maybe your experience wasn't all that good, but I know a lot of people who have had exactly the opposite experience.

                      Take care.

                        Hi undergroundrider!

Hey man, just like your mechanic, as a personal suggestion, I would also suggest you to go in for a CI engine, but then the Machismo being a 2000 model, would be an AVL.

About your requirements, I can right away tell you that not just mine, but I know of another guy's Bullet here on xBhp, which didn't leak oil or anything of that sort.

As for the reason of buying a second-hand Bullet, if it's because you feel that the newer bikes are not the same, then I would say that the design is essentially the same in the Std350, which you can pick brand new from any showroom. The Electra has some minor changes, but it also has the same traditional gearshift, on right side.

                        Take care.

                        Happy thumping,

                          suggestion

                          hi,

First of all I think you need to be clear what you want. You want a bike with the original bullet thump and feel and you dont want any leaks, maintenance etc.

In my opinion you cant get both worlds at the same time (I happen to own a bullet 1996 standard CI engine). It has the old feel, the torque but it does leak from here and there, and there are a lot of things that need attention. this is more true for older bikes. the older the more attention it needs (not necessarily only for bullets though. It can be true for any model/make).

If you want a troublefree ride, go get a new AVL engined bike and get a standard silencer (the short one) for that sound.

May be that will do the trick for you.

You must be Joking if you are talking about bullets then these all are included in the package. be it a std or a machismo all have these problems but then this is what bullet is all about. if you dont want these look at the Karizma and Pulsars and all that.

Ankur i dont think so and its not true even the new bullets have same problems so bullet be new or old its all same when it comes to the CI(Cast Iron)
