This forum rocks! I was here a few years back, and was impressed but then lost track. Now, my quest has again landed me here between travel freaks like myself.
I'm planning a mobike trip from J&K - Himachal - Uttrkhand - Nepal - Sikkim - Bhutan - Arunachal Pradesh. Will take anywhere around 6 months!
NOw, I have all my life rode mobikes and in the hills ( I live in Dehradun, Uttarakhand) on and off tracks.I've used scooters, Hero Honda CD-100 ( went to Rohtang about 20 years back) etc. Currently i own a Pulsar - 150, which im planning to sell - though the black beauty has given me innumerable memories and always trustworthy rides!
But for this long - extremely long trip - I need a very comfortable bike. I initially thought of Avenger 180 ( not 200 coz i read many bad reviews - is that correct? ) or Thunderbird or classic Bullet - 350.
My mind is open to anything that is -
1. Comfortable to keep driving on a daily basis for 10,000 kms. ( will it be more than that?) since i had a slip-disc 2 years back.
2. Trustworthy - with minimal maintenance and problems ( surprisingly my pulsar has withstood that test)
3. Economical - Guys, I'm gonna be on road for months and mileage definitely matters, though I wudn't sacrifice quality for mileage.
4. Don't want to do too much of customization - coz repairs are a problem in that case!
5. Budget is not much of a problem.
So friends, I'm looking forward to your advise and help in choosing my trip-mate. Also, if you can help me plan parts of the itinerary ( i dont know ANY-ONE who has done pan-himalaya on bike) it will be great fun since maps dont do good jobs of finding beautiful back trails that lead to heavenly places!
Thanks!
