1. for cruising... between the Avenger n the FZ... i'd pick the Avenger.

2. since i'm recommending the Avenger over the FZ... need to clarify that the Avenger is pretty OK for daily commute... how far do u "commute"???
is there usually heavy traffic ?

3. Don't own an Avenger so wouldn't really know bout the chain... but "all other bajaj bikes"???... i've owned a P18O UGIII for 3 years now... no problems yet.

4. If ur 6ft... the Avenger... sizewise.

Avenger and FZ16 looks much different . I think Fz16 will be much more common that avenger for sure . Tell us your height and looks too ;-) . Personally i love the style of FZ16 . Avenger is kind of different look , I think it would suit you if you are a big (i mean height and looks) person ..

The ones you have shorlisted are bikes for different purposes. Avenger is well suited for touring be it 250 kms or 1000 kms since it has a very relaxed seating posture and the dimensions are pretty big putting it in the class of relaxed tourers. It can be harrowing to manage it in city traffic due to its size compared to other bikes like A180, FZ16, FZS, P180, P220 etc.

FZ16 is an out and out city ride with very good low and mid range power for zipping in the city. But take it to open roads and it will quickly run out of breath. Also the almost non existent back seat would make it hard if you go for long rides with pillion.

Now the choice is yours!! Take a ride on both and decide what you want. As you would be compromising on one factor or other for sure with the above bikes in terms of city vs highway capabilities.

I would suggest the Avvy.
The reason being simple. Its awesome on touring. you'll never feel the stress.
Seats are quite comfy unlike the FZ's rear seat.
The chain is really good. It has the O ring chain if I am not wrong.
Best in class headlamps which wil help you a lot for ur touring. Oil cooled engine.

The FZ is an awesome city bike, but as someone said, towards the top ends, it runs out of breath quite fast.

both the bikes are good looking in their own ways but i would suggest you to go in for the FZ as its a all rounder... its easier to ride in city traffic as well as for long trips.. but with the avvy you would have slight problems in city traffic depending on the turning radius and the sitting posture... well i don't know how much you travel but am sure you would be using the bike more for city commute compared to long trips so the FZ would be my choice.

m 6 fts tall,,,,
regarding my body structure, m skinny
but since i hav been thinking of avenger a very long time so i am working on my 'body bulk' part.. i guess after 2 or 3 months i would come under an atheletic person..

my body structure doesnt matter unless m overweight or an extra large monster..i guess
what concerns me more is the type and brand of vehicle that m to buy...
what i want is whenever i ride my bike, be it 3 mnths or 3 yrs after i purchase it, it should run the way i think,, i mean in terms of smoothness nd all..
if its not a quality ride then i guess its not worth buying such a machine.

Go for the Avenger. It'll be great on the highways. You might face a bit problem riding it in the city initially, but the problem will fade out after a couple of weeks.

My friend(a very tall and big guy) owns an Avenger 180 for the past 4 years and i can't imagine him on any other bike, coz it will be so unfair for the bike to pull such a gigantic human!!... so since you are saying you are 6 feet tall, Avenger is a great choice..but you will have to live with the usual Bajaj issues...i think i don't have to explain here coz some people will agitate!!

FZ is a nice bike..very comfy..good for City commutes..don't know about touring...But i have seen more FZs these days on NH-4 than Avenger..So its upto you to decide...All the best!!

avenger would be my pick over the two...FZ isnt exactly comfortable for long rides IMO
