The RX 135 is the best when it comes to Pickup, Top speed, handling and comfort, but when it comes to choosing a good second hand 2 stroker, you have to be careful. The bikes you may come across might have (90%) be ripped to the max and not maintained properly.

Don't let the cosmetics fool ya, the engines on many of the RX's I've seen have been run down to the core and were running oversize, but still had extremely well done exteriors. Mileage and Spares can also be a issue.

IMHO, that you try out the Discover 135 instead. Pickup, Handling and comfort are the best I've seen in the class. Maintanance should'nt be a issue. Mileage and looks are a major plus. It can do some mild touring without any hassles.

As far as the other questions are concerned, It's better you search for the bike yourself rather than bidding via dealers. They can be pretty unscrouplous. If you have a good mechanic, ask him to check the vehicle before picking it up. Before you make up your mind check if the vehicle's registeration papers, Tax and Insurance are up to date. Also ask for bills of any major repair work done on the vehicle. Check if there are any major insurance claims on the bike. The Instruction manual, First aid Kit and the tool kits are often ignored by many buyers and sellers. Don't forget the NOC / Re registeration papers if the vehicle is registered in an other state.

When I bought my shaolin, I prepared 2 receipts, one for me and the other for the seller, and had it signed from him, despite having the Owner's name changed in the RC book at the RTO.

For 30-35K you'll get a very well maintained RX for sure , you can use it and gift it to your children or even grand children

Being a 2stroker myself, I would advise you against it. Sourcing one in decent condition is no joke. Finding spare parts even for the RX nowadays is becoming difficult and to top it all finding competent mechanics is an evergreen problem. If you have lots of time and patience go for a RX135.

Also, not all 150cc bikes are heavy. Apache for example is very flickable and light. If performance matters, then I would suggest you to look at 150cc segment too.

Its really a toughest thing to find a good 4 stroker as per your Quote
But since you have 35,000 in hands - why go for a second hand bike - you can lay your hands on a comfortable New 100cc....
Add some extra money and go for a Discover 100 or star 110 or Platina 125
Even Suzuki Heat is also advisable......

Second hand market is a dark market only few get fruits out of it...
And also going for an Old two stroker has its own drawbacks..
But if your still insist go for CT100, Calliber or Boxer
Hoodibaba is the best among all and its a 115 cc.....

finding a RX in good condition is tough for sure but have a go.You may eventually find one...I remember reading somewhere long back that yamaha will help out RX and RD customers or something like that...for you requirement RX fits the bill perfectly.You can even consider discover 135 like someone here suggested...

I was offered a 1.5 year old bajaj xcd 125 for rs. 35000... Is that a good deal?

its definitely a good deal but try to break down the price to a lower amount and i would suggest you that if you are buying that bike you should take a mechanic with you who can just have a look at the engine n tell u if there are any flaws.....

FYI, RX is one of the most durable m/c in India, 20 year olds still screaming and going great....but as many voice if maintainence is an issue better avoid it.
If you are closing in on 35K XCD IInd hand bike, I suggest you to look at HEAT basic model ... brand NEW will be avialable for less than 40K !!
HEAT : 5 gear, solid build quality, NEW bike, 2 years you can forget maintainence cost, superb LET, ofcourse you may not like it's look, else it's best buy for your budget !! Owning new bike is altogether different than owning 1.5 year old XCD.....think twice !!

RX 135 it is. No second thoughts about it. This bike matches all your requirements. Light weight, amazing pick up and with the torque it generates, u can be assured of getting a good top speed as well. But be careful in your search. Spend some time looking for a good RX. It will be well worth the wait.

I would recommend you a new bike. If you can extend your budget a little, you can get a 125 cc bike, else you can get a new bike in that cost.

i agree with that too....new bike means least expenditure on maintenance....

you can easily get a 2 year old 150 CC machines(eg Unicorn/apache etc.).. If you have any friends in IT sector then try to get from them... usually they are in good condition ..people leaving abroad sell them at good prices. I wouldn't prefer old Pulser (infact any BAJAJ machine which is more then 2 year old, unless its really cheap).. try to find a maintained UNICORN, even if it has done 20k kilometers, engine will be still smooth and good power.

i agree to that....actually all the bajaj engines start producing sound after 2-3 years...so purchasing a second hand bajaj is not a good idea...
