If mileage is the top priority then GS150R might be a good choice.

But for touring, its Avenger all the way!! Nothing can beat its low slung rider position and the comfort offered to the rider. If you are happy with the GS150R seating, then i suggest you try out the seating of the Avenger.. You should be mighty pleased!!

Avenger is not all that bad on the mileage front averaging at 40kmpl if driven sanely.. So you should definitely test it!

I Knew somehow GS will creep in this thread! Yep, she is a tourer alright. While I was contempleting on buying a bike focussed on touring, GS surpassed all the bikes by something or the other. I am sure a lot has been said about the smoothness etc elsewhere, but from tourer point of view, will add a few points:

1.The bike gives 50+ mileage always. If ridden sanely, it goes even upto 55-58.
      2. Extremely comfortable for rider and pillion for long ride. Me and wifey tour for quite some distance, and no one gets tired from the ride.
      3. Great rear seat position. Sure it is a bit tall than usual, but then the pillion gets to see above the riders head, means she can see the full view the rider is seeing. No more leaning from a side to get a road view, and being stuck with seeing rider's helmet's rear for all the trip.
      4. Huge + metal tank. The 15 liter tank gives good coverage, means you don't have to hunt for petrol now and then. Fill it at your trusted petrol pump and you are good to go. Besides, the metal body makes it simple to put on a tank bag on it, unlike Hunk or FZ.

I haven't ridden RTR, so I am not in position to comment on that. But when I was buying, I kept RTR out of the list, simply because I thought it is a great tool for in city riding but on long riding it may be painful. But hey, we have got ppl who tour Leh on R15! So in the end, it comes down to the rider.

All the best for your selection.

Go for the GS mate! It'll be comfortable for touring and will return a good mileage.

Don't do it!! Don't do it over your life, or even if someone pays you for it! Are you out of your mind! Wake up and smell the dirt!

PS: Well you asked for it. A vague answer for a vague question What are we supposed to comment if you are 'mostly going for it'? 'Wow you are so lucky' type of comments? Be precise in questions for precise answers.

RTR Owners: no offence absolutely, pls take it as a joke!

Even though it's THE VFM bike but I am sure that it is not one of THE BEST (read comfortable) TOURING machines. So make a call on this line.

if your body frame is a little large,RTR is not "the" best touring machine out there
It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

I think good old ZMA is the best when it comes to best VFM Touring machine. Its huge, powerful, very comfortable and highly reliable time tested machine.

Guys after a lot of hard work i have managed to increase my budget to a lakh....now i have two more bikes in mind after RTR180 (i was about to book one)the ZMR...but what about the enfields??? i am 6 ft 2 inches tall weighing 64 kgs (slim built). what do guys have to say about the classic 350? i was simply blown away by its looks.does that bike have the same thumping sounds as the older bullets???or is the engine sound like TBTS??? (i dont like that sound)........since this is going to be my first ever bike is it okay for a slim built guy like me to ride a Classic 350???or should i just keep my mouth shut and go for an apache 180 or ZMR????please guys!!i am having sleepless nights of utter confusion!!!!

Classic comes with the same engine found in TBTS...fat or slim,it doesnt matter. If you wish to own a classic, you should...btw,I do think ZMR is a better option overall...
