  • Please Help me in choosing bike

My criteria for buying a new bike is disc brakes at both tyres, +200 CC engine, look doesnt matter, price around 1 lakh INR.

I waited for new karizma ZMR for more than a year but got highly disappointed because the power is same as old one[Fi & other things doesnt matter to me], I cant go for p220 coz of bajaj engine's reliability and existing customer negative feedback about the bike, also I dont want to buy R15 coz of its engine capacity [only 150 CC] and the other bikes which are good doesnt have rear disc brakes [DRUM brakes really sucks after a year, burden on pocket to maintain drum brakes after year ,whether you buy most expensive linear for drum brakes].

Please tell me what should i do ? because as I found there is no existing bike available in my criteria ...
Should I wait for Auto expo for announcement of new bike and then again wait for their launch ?

      1) Hunt for a well maintained p200 & fit an rear-disc
      2) Hunt for a Legendary RD & fit 02 discs (front & rear)
      3) Take a Unicorn, manipulate with its heart & try to increase bhp & fit 02 discs
      4) Take a NINJA 250R, remove 50cc power from bike & some bhp's as well & PARTY Onn.

You must be the change you wish to see in the world

go for the bullet or the thunderbird with the extra burden of disc being attached later...i guess those are the only bikes u havnt already crossed out....

one suggestion though ...dont buy a bike through the process of elimination...TD bikes and see wat u like...jus plainly rejecting them with feedback and reviews or anything else will not get you anywhere...

          heheh..lolz.

          @ TS

you have eliminated almost all the premium segment bikes.this aint US where there are lotts bikes dude...r15 though its 150cc is a good track tool and gives stiff competition to p220...zma is a proven relaxed tourer..and 220 is a combi of all and is a great VFM...every bike will have its niggles..TD all and decide

i would suggest TB twin spark. dont need the disc at the rear though on that bike.

The only option you are left with, is the Bullet. Try the classic.

Get a R15 and Tune it to 185cc, you will have power delivery better than a 200cc Bike, R15 is a Mini Rocket it can smoke a 200cc (No Offense)
Disk Brakes no worries because R15 has got on front and rear.

That depends on when you want the bike. If you want it urgently then you have options as mentioned by the others, else if you want to wait then wait & watch.

No offence buddy, but what exactly are you looking for. Remeber CC is not directly proportional to BHP. If you are just looking for CC and you have crossed out the ZMA/P220 you are left with a couple of options only, namely the Bullets and the Ninja (which is way out of your budget).

If you want more power you can always plump down for a ZMA with a sprocketing job done.

Dont discount the R15. I have smoked the wheels of P200 on this very bike.

If you are ready to wait for the AE2010, then you could expect a 250 Honda Bike. AFAIK they will have two models one a premium 250 to take on the Ninja and a single cylinder 250 (rebored ZMA engine) which will be on a same price point as ZMR.
However, remember that the time taken from display at AE to availability in showrooms is decently long. If you are ready to wait good...but then...

Otherwise like Tbird_M6 says, buy an RD and Put in double disks...A superb bike...

This aint no computer market where you give your configuration and assemble stuff and buy a desktop/lappy.

The options are there in front of you . There is a word called "Compromise" and you have to live with it irrespective of zma or r15 and a p220.

Leaving R15 cause of Cc is "Stupidity". Have you ridden 1 long enough ?
Leaving the zmr cos its same engine makes no sense . Its got the stuff . (oh yeah you dont value them right !)
leaving the 220 cause its not reliable - arent others riding it and here to tell stories?

Or shall we price the RTR180 at 1 lac and you ll buy it ?

Got a good news for U...Yesterday I went to Yamaha service centre to replace my FZ's bearings...got a sure-shot news (already was told by them only) that 200+cc fz is ready & can be traced down by anybody near their factory as it is making final rounds before launching in 45-60days from NOW.

Keep this point in ming before U finalise something bcoz already FZ is undethroned king in 150cc segment with its naked styling & fitments...Just imagine if same FZ comes with bigger heart & bulging bhp's to take on competition by Storm.
