i guess there's a new RTR180 out in the market. what are the new features? and differences with the p180? and the cost?Originally posted by burnrubbernotursoul View Post[/COLOR]
i ride a 220 and i rode the FZ and found it to be a very good handler plus enough power to keep you happy in the city. FZ is a chick magnet. even my girl calls it "shahrukh khan ka bike" .
and everytime i talk about upgrading my 220 pat comes the reply-"we will buy the "shahrukh khan ka bike" poor girl she thinks FZ 16 is the same bike that SRK flaunts in Rab ne bana di jodi.
the only good thing is, if i need to buy that bike sometime in future, i know i dont have to convince anyone
if your fren is inclined more towards style then FZ should be his choice.
OT: my heart is on RTR180, great looks and power .

I would suggest RTR180.
But if the choice has to be made only between these two i would say P180. The reason being:
1. More Mileage
2. More Power
3. Spares are lighter on the pocket
4. Can be used for cruising on highways as well.
If the riding is totally restricted to cities and if mileage and cost of spares are not a concern then its FZ all the way.Biking is not my Passion, it is my Religion!

I definitely recommend him to take a test drive both the bikes. There is no one size fits all in bikes. Each rider feels comfortable and confident riding certain make/model. I couldn't care less if it is P180 or P220 or Zuma etc... A good rider can dust all these bikes with 19xx Hero Honda CD100 bike. It is not a track to see the power a bike can deliver.
Apart from those 2 shortlisted bike ask him to test other bikes which fits his style and pocket. All the best.

The biggest thing to consider while buying a bike is riding comfort. Ride both the bikes and see for yourself, your comfortable in which bike.
But if u ask me my personal opinion than, though i really liked the FZ's handling but its kinda under powered for my taste.
So its gonna be the P180 Dts-i, which i would suggest.

Definetly a FZ-16 from my side!...The Yam can easily beat the bajaj on the performance sector, mileage wise its the same, but it has better street presence and refreshing looks!...that makes it one step ahead than the P180.
But when you include an RTR-180 in the competition, that makes it interesting...

thanks all
exam on! a week more.. so all those thinking about bikes is in a pause mode for the time being..
(btw did i tell that he rode both the bikes, fz and pulsar (although not a proper long ride), but the p220 coz i don't have the miniature 180 version
, and he said that he liked the pulsar more

.. but maybe that's bcoz of the power! but 180 won't be much less i guess, whatsay you people???)

IMO even the FZ is getting a l'il common for the eyes nowadays (although i don't deny that "brand pulsar" is the most-seen-bike in the roads even now)!Originally posted by varuvij View PostDefinetly a FZ-16 from my side!...The Yam can easily beat the bajaj on the performance sector, mileage wise its the same, but it has better street presence and refreshing looks!...that makes it one step ahead than the P180.

and yes, what u said about yamaha i agree.. but what about the comparison between the 150cc FZ and the 180cc Pulsar???

(and btw, about the mileage thing you mentioned, i deny that totally! FZ gives 40 maximum (maybe l'il more in extreme/exception cases).. but even my p220 is giving me 40.. so i don't think the 180 version of pulsar would give anything below 45 atleast! anywhere between 45-55 i'm sure..

I dunno why people call fz under powered ?? i guess for highways.. on streets I have beaten many pulsars.. FZ got the real power in the first 3 gear.. 0-100 is so easy with FZ... i never took it for a long journey from a highway so can't tell much..
if he is saying to get the pulsar I suggest you to take him to TVS and get him test drive of Apache.. It looks better and performance is better than PULSAR much better..
I would never get a pulsar I really think they need to change there design to make it atleast lil better just go to any road and you will find every generation of pulsar coming in every 2 min lol (IT IS COMPLETELY MY OPINION)
The most important factor is what he feels is better for him you should get that too him..
I needed style and bike for streets I got the FZs..
You need a bike for highways get the pulsar.. or better apache ..
or if you can upgrade your budget get P220 STYLE/PERFORMANCE.. it is an awesome bike (only pulsar I like..) but mileage ahem..
I guess yamaha has some student offer I got 3k off from the bike price..Last edited by krates; 01-01-2010, 10:26 AM.Riding, loving and enjoying my lord of the streets.. FZ-S...

almost decided
after trying to convince him so very much to consider the p180 (or even the a180), he's heart still has only the image of fz..
and so, most probably, he'll be buying his fz the next week or so (in this month itself, his b'day being exactly a week away from now)..
will let you ppl know!
~ thanks all ~

Adding my 2 cents though he's bought the bike...
First, congratulations in settling down for FZ16 (to which I've voted). Personally to me, I would look at the spec first & then move on with other areas. Frankly, the 9.5:1 compression on FZ looks very appealing, moving on the torque, I consider it to be one of the best (atleast in India) in the 150 segments & its hardly of any difference when it compares to the P180.
All the more, I would say the overall build quality of FZ16 is way better than P180. Wishing a good luck, happy, safe & enjoy the rides to come.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
