A RE would always be a better bet for long distance touring, in terms of service and repair if anything breaks down.

Also less hassle of someone fiddling with the bike, messing around it or something when parked or left idle.

My offerings to the gods of speed -

      - KTM Duke 200
      - Yamaha RXZ 5 speed

There goes another point for PROS on RE. I'm giving a serious thought if I really need to go in for Harley after both of your opinions.

@Aargee: My two cents. The HDs are not going to be here for another few months. I think you should go ahead with the 500 right now. One year down the line, when the HDs are here and their feasibility on indian roads is tested, you could go ahead and sell off the 500 and pick your dream Harley

My third cent: If you can afford it, do go for it eventually, the family will come round to your decision, once they hear that sound and the whole colony's appreciative eyes !!!

Yeah, I think you're right. However, as I said before, the money on HD is the money I'm betting on Scorpio & the C5 was not even in my minds.

Another problem of mine with C5 is that I prefer buying a twins (not necessarily V-Twins) that RE does not have one now.

Even if I overcome the twins fever of mine & buy C5 now, I can afford for a HD after several years from now ('cause I hate to exchange due to the sentimental feelings with the rides & may be I become the elite 40 group - matured enough to own a HD). I think that should give time for 2 things...
            1. A special tariff imports for US imports
            2. Wait & watch to see how HD performs on Indian roads

Who knows? May be HD would even outsource their production to China or India which would eventually question on the quality of US made vs Outsourced.
