No he is not! ZMAs are known to gasp for air at higher altitudes.
And as far as taking the gladiator goes, it is a fine machine. Get it serviced properly, learn how to set to run it lean/rich and then hop on and go. That 1.5 L can be saved and added to, only to buy the Ninja next year

Grease Monk: The Karizma ZMR has an oxygen sensor unlike all other fuel injected mobikes manufactured in India.
But I will agree with Vaibhav, if you would be riding without a pillion rider, a well serviced Gladiator would be just fine. 90% of Leh circuit is no obstacle for even a well maintained CD100, its YOU who will have to adopt more.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I ll think about it.
Yes, for sure there will be NO pillion. Even baggage will be minimal. But still not convinced that 125cc is sufficient! Has anybody done it before? My main concern is the steep ascent (which could result in engine over heating). I don`t want to look like a jackass at 10000ft
BTW I found a carb tuning article. Seems quite simple.

I beg to differ..as one of friend put it ..you will do the Leh trip 'inspite-of' the gladi rather than because of.
so, in the inspite-of category there is a tvs scooty also which has done khardung-la.
but the thing about being prepared is about being in the 'beacause-of' category.
I tried manali-leh in 2009 on the bird 2003 model.. got stranded at baralacha..reason?
because oil from engine case entered airfilter due to back pressure and choked the engine. this problem is solved in 2006 model of the bird.. saw it clearly on my friends bike.
bottom line - your choice depends on the level of certainity you would want to have in the trip.

Yes, I know quite a few people who have done it on their CD100s and Passions in 2009 and pretty comfortably at that though not sure they are a member of xBhp!
All I am saying that Yamaha Gladiator is very much capable to propel you to the highest roads and passes of the world provided its in a good condition. But with that kind of budget, I would go for a Kaizma ZMR.
