  • Inputs regarding RE UCE maintenence

    Hi Guys,
I have been looking for a bike to buy.
Was confused between p220,RE (TBTS or classic 350) (dropped idea of rebuilding RX :-( ).

The only thing stopping me from going for a RE is the maintenance and unreliability that is discussed about them.

The UCE engines are claimed to be more reliable and fuel efficient as compared to the older RE engines.

I would like to know what kind reliability can i expect from the new UCE engines or what kind of issue i can expect?

I commute 60 kms per day (bangalore traffic), can it be a stress free bike to ride in terms of riding comfort (wrist pain, back pain etc)?

pour in your experiences and suggestions :-)

    Regards

The RE UCE is trouble free. Maintenance free comparatively to the older bullets... IF you get your stance right, RE is one of the most comfortable bikes to ride...

Are there any common niggles that can be very troublesome??

come on guys.. pour in your view.. gotta book on within couple of days :-)

RE outlets here in blore are quoting 5 to 6 months waiting period for classic
and 2 months for TBTS... Does it really take that long for delivery???
or are they expecting extra bucks for quick delivery????

RE TBTS is a good choice with very less maintenance compared to RE CI types. As you might be already aware, you can't expect very high quality in RE (or should I say not yet! ). Cluth wire issue might pop up. No issues in oil leakage/chain/engine as such - this is again a majority of the owner's comments.

Once you rigorously follow the run-in period, you shouldn't face big issues. Ofcourse as a bike, you might face some small niggles here and there, which is ok as per me.

You can go for TBTS as you said you travel 60 KMs daily. In my opinion, it would be right choice for you over CL350/CL500, considering its excellant seating posture. CL350 and TBTS has same engine.

I can understand 4/5 months waiting period for Classics (350/500) as they had some painting issues in manufacturing unit during month of Dec'09 and so created some backlogs. Hence the deliveries are getting pushed further. I am not sure if it is the same for TBTS, but definitely not more than a month waiting period for TBTS.

Yes you are true when it comes to classic waiting period. its 5 to 6 months.

And regarding TBTS. i had booked my TBTS on jan16th. No news yet. Initially when i bokked they guy promised to deliver it within 25 days. He didnot keep his promise. as usual.

Wrote a Mail to RE regarding my disappoint regardnig waiting period for classic and waiting period increasing for TBTS. So he confirmed that whoever books it from yesterday TBTS will have to wait flat 3 months for the bike to be delivered.

But in my case he has promised to deliver it in another one week or two max.

Counting money everyday n keeping it safe.
