RTR 160/Pulsar 135LS/Others

    The throttle response between the Pulsar 150 and Pulsar 135 is different. The Pulsar 150 will have better grunt at low engine revs.. making lifting heavy load or a heavy pillion easy.

    The Pulsar 135 develops it peak power at high engine revs, and thanks to its 4 valve engine, the Pulsar 135 feels more powerful at higher engine revs.. it's engine is tuned to deliver performance like a "sports" bike.

    After spending a week with my friends P135, I can say that the Pulsar 135 can do top speeds of around 115 kmph. Haven't ridden the 2010 P150.. but with the power increased to 15 Ps, it should also do around 115 kmph despite having most of its grunt at lower engine revs.


    The Apache RTR 160 is a great bike. You can always replace the tyres..

    it's pretty much the same...maybe just 2-3kmph difference at most
    btw,ruling out the RTR just bcoz of the tires seems ridiculous IMO...they are great bikes.The tires is more than decent for normal usage and you always have the option of going in for a better one...

    From my own personal hunt for the perfect bike which I couldn't finish in the end.

    RTR FI is definitely better in response and mileage than normal.
    RTR 180 is better on power and lesser on mileage and 2k lesser in price than FI.
    All RTRs handle like anthing, I personally feel most assured on these bikes -- even more than broad footed FZ.

    I too feel uncomfortable with heavy bikes like GS, Unicorn, CBZ, Hunk -- all weight in 143-149kg bracket. In these I found Unicorn the most assured bike for me - so only heavy bike I liked in terms of handling and control.

    I didn't try bikes from other category except Stunner(good but not a good match of any bike mentioned above).

    For mileage - ownership threads are better guide. FZ is really good bike except - low mileage and a bit pricey(75k in Bangalore) w.r.t. its specs.

    So I would say under 70k Unicorn(total trouble free biking) or RTR 160(a fun bike) and if you can stretch beyond that - RTR 160 FI or 180 (pick any - both have their merits thouhg 180 makes more sense).

    Oh great....If it gives 50-55kmpl then its fine for me.....Well then i need to check out this weekend probably and decide.....i am getting confused a lot.....lets see.....

    I own a RTR fi and my bike gives me a average of around 50 - 55 depending on my driving .
    Yes it has a better throttle response and pick up than the carburatted one. and also the exhuast beat rockzzz

    it does...very much.And it's a lil more fun to ride too...go through the ownership thread to get a clearer picture...but it sure gives more mileage than the regular 160 RTR...

    @manu: You look good on your bike but as i said i am not sure if i would be comfortable....i want to be absolutely sure that i am in control....otherwise my riding experience may not be enjoyable.......

    Even i'm just 61 kgs. and 5.8" tall.
    neither I dont look like ant over a buffalo nor its too heavy.
    do i look like a ant over buffalo in my DP

    with the Pulsar220 and RTR 180,you can't expect a mileage of 45+ on a regular basis.So,the RTR efi makes a lot of sense here as it's priced around 75k here in bangalore and you do get mileage of above 45...

    I had just like to add one thing....

    I am of slim build...So the problem with going for a heavier bike is that even though i can ride it...i am not sure if i could handle the bike effectively and feel completely in control....Thats why i am against going for a P220....and also i dont want to look like an ant over a buffalo or something....i mean me over the machine shouldnt be looking odd...........

    Check out P135 in flesh , i Personally didnt like the rear and fuel capacity.

    Go for RTR160 Man , for your height you wont feel cramped up at all.

    @Nitin : I didnt consider the GS 150....My roomie has it....So i dont want to have it....Better have different bikes.....And apart from that occasionally i feel a bit uncomfortable driving that vehicle.....

    @Umesh : Mileage is an essential....I need atleast 45-55Kmpl.....It doesnt make sense to me to burn 75k and then spend a lot of money on petrol too.....

    If you want want mileage..looks...power combo then go for HH Hunk...
    and if you can compromise a bit on average then go for the new P220 cc without the fairing...i guess that is priced at around 74k.
    Else RTR is a nice an mean machine sheer power as compared to others in its league...
