    RX100 or RX135?

    Hi guys,

    Been thinking of getting myself a RX for quiet sometime now. But am confuesd with them. Nt sure which one would suit me. Tried getting a 135 5spd, but the quotes i get raise my eyebrow.

    Am used to my RTR/P220. RX would be 95% be used inside the city. Pls help me in choosing!

    P.S - Am a complete noob when it comes to 2 strokes!

      135 for the additional power and acceleration... 100 for the charm and cult status ownership brag rights..

      Engine parts are easily available for the 100 at the moment.. And you can convert it to a 135 anytime later on also...

        Thx a ton bro, that clears 70% of my confusion. Only thing am worried abt is the bore/piston kit. if its F%$^$& then mech's out here say its around 8k for a new one. And most of my friends ask me to go for a jap made rx100 saying it has more power. Else get a indian made one and source a jap made bore/piston kit.

        honestly i dont think there should be any difference in its performance whether its a indian or jap made. may be the life differs.

        is this ture? and how hard is it to get a new bore/piston kit? A reliable one?

          Seriously get an RX-100 for yourself, if U can lay your hands on jap model you will never in your life regret that!! RX-135 somewhat doesnt go well in my brain, although its a very good machine but always secondary to RX-100!.

          About the bores & parts they are available on condition you do a good hunting job you might get them in second hand market like chor bazaar or kurla CST road, Yamaha has stopped production of 2 Stroke Parts (Heart Breaking News) there are a few guys in the market selling bores which they claim are from malaysia for RXZ & RX-100 I have had a look at it & I found the Petrol intake too too big & also it looks pretty rough. I wont be one bit surprised if it is coming manufactured from Delhi & guys are just bluffing abt Malaysia.

            ^^ the only difference was that the initial batch parts came from japan or alternate sources from abroad. Hence the build quality and durability was better..

            As it is, no matter how well the bike is re-built, unless its done completely to company spec, you will have some loss of power as compared to the original... So keep an allowance of 10-15% minimum for that.

            Parts are available, and bore kits are available with dealers. OEM parts, no issues.

            @2strokey - the malaysian bores look vastly different in finish compared to the indian bore. Though everything else is same. Im trying to get my hands on a kit from there to compare and install and use.

              dont think thats true.... i have seen many rebuilds making more power ...end of the day it comes down to how the engine is assembled

                Hmmm......am going to look at a Rx100 tomorrow. its madmax46's friends bike. if i like it i'll pick it up immediatly> will ride around for couple of days. if i like it, i'll go for a complete rebuild slowly over couple of months.


                Am trying to get a Rx135 5spd within my budget. lets see how things goo. but any which ways i need to get a bike latest by tuesday!

                  "unless its done completely to company spec" i mentioned that.. And if you go in for blueprinting the engine.. you will obviously come out with more output than a normal engine.

                    Guys, Picked up a rx135 4Spd, 99model. has done more than 100k kms. Engine needs overhaul.


                    Whats the stock Sprocket size for 135 4spd?

                          Suggestion on buying yamaha rx100/rx135

                          Hello guys,i want to buy yamaha rx bike from last 3 years,but i am confused which one to go for.i don't like rxz because i want yamaha classic bike .rx100/rx135 looks pure japanese.i am confused btw. Rx100 and rx135 4s (don't want 5s).personelly i like rx100.according to my father rx100 is better from all rx series in terms of performance and pickup.please suggest the right one in terms of parts availability,performance and reliability.aslo give your sugg. On what to keep in mind while buying an rx.i would like to get parts for the bike for future.so suggest me a bike whose parts are easily available.

                              Go for Rx 100, still you will be having hard time hunting for spares all the time It's a obsolete bike...
