^^^Its easier to munch on the miles if i stay behind one of the biggies, there is a lot less effort involved. And if you feel the biggie is getting slow, you can always show 'em how its done..Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

You are true brother.Originally posted by antz.bin View Post^^^Its easier to munch on the miles if i stay behind one of the biggies, there is a lot less effort involved. And if you feel the biggie is getting slow, you can always show 'em how its done..
It will be breeze on your black muscle 220
as 100 kmph is a relative easy job for 220..
But the Fz's really struggles to touch a 100 with pillon on a windy highway.Last edited by kochumvk; 02-21-2010, 11:54 AM.

Apache RTR 180 or Pulsar 220 Dts-i
Hey bro, i'm guessing your budget is approx 83-84k (Equivalent to Mumbai's prices) Anyway, the difference in power, torque and basically overall performance is vast.
You will be very happy even with the Fazer for the first 3-4 months but trust me, a time will come where you'll get used to the power and want something extra. That's when you'll wish you had chosen a P220.
I wouldn't want to discourage you, but as the others pointed out, the Fazer is overpriced and underpowered. Taking into account that it churns out 14ps, whereas if i'm not wrong the Pulsar 135LS does nearly that much!!
My sincere suggestion would be: Take a close look at the Apache RTR 180!
I don't know why no one's pointed this out yet but if there's one bike in the market that gives the P220 a run for it's money it's this one.
Here's a small comparison:
1) P220 - More powerful and at the end of it, larger displacement counts.
A180 - Isn't too far behind at all, in fact you probably won't know where those 40cc's are hiding in the city at all.
2) P220 and A180 both, have been reported to have their fair share of vibrations, though apparently the newer lot of P220's seem to be in better shape.
3) Price range is nearly the same.
4) This is an astounding figure, but some mags actually claim that the A180 has indeed a better 0-100 figure than the P220
. Although, in daily riding you're not really going to bother with such tiny differences.
5) Looks are subjective. The Apache is a little smaller and if you're around 6ft tall, the 220 would be a better option.
6) I really, really love the brakes on the Apache! Not that the 220 is bad.
7) 220 tires are far superior, although when you purchase something worth 75-80k, you wouldnt mind spending another 12-15 hundred for a good quality tire. After all, the Apache is cheaper than the 220.
All in all, both the bikes are really good. Apache owners will tell you to buy an Apache. 220 owners will boast about the sheer performance. Take a test ride, and decide for yourself, as honestly the Fazer is not that good a bike because of it's underpowered engine.
Good luck and please let us know of your decision and post some pics.

If u havent decided yet, I would suggest u go for the 220. Thats called VFM. the power it delivers is mind boggling (blasting
). AFAIK the mileage on the 220 is higher than the mileage given by the Fazer.
Plus u have the following advantages,
1. Rear discs
2. more power
3. automatic indicators
4. Projector lamps
Choose wisely. But still I would tell you, follow ur heart, not ur mind.Never Argue with an Idiot !!!
He will bring you down to his level and beat you with his experience.

What man!!! There should simply be no confusion between a 220 and a 150.
Looks matters but power matters more.If you want a chick magnet and want to impress your friends... just simple city commuting opt for Fazer 150cc.
But if you are a tourer kind.... who wants more power more speed...forget Fazer and concentrate on P220 DTFI.The Fast and the Curious kind!!!
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Maybe he is inclined to Yamaha Fazer, but seeing the responses towards P220, he choses silence!
In any case, each time I see Fazer, I see how brandname and poser value is more valued than underlying stuff. Tell you a lot of things about public mentality!

Bro i agree that the P220 is incomparable with the Fazer, and there are some people who'd rather choose looks over power.Originally posted by animeher View PostMaybe he is inclined to Yamaha Fazer, but seeing the responses towards P220, he choses silence!

Although, calling everyone posers would be wrong. What if he is is the kind who doesn't rip the bike hard? Someone who doesn't go to the top speed? Someone who would rather have a Yamaha than a Bajaj? It's no surprise, as Yamaha is arguably the no. 1 brand in quality and performance worldwide.
There are so many people who would rather have the stability of the Fazer (tire wise AND quality wise
).
We can't say they have a bad mentality because they don't like racing their bikes.
It's each one to his own thinking. Some people find the P220 faring ghastly.
Regarding the thread, it's sad that the starter hasn't followed up, even though xbhpian's are giving out genuine advice on his request.
