    CB Twister

CB Twister is one damn good 110cc bike. It will surely eat up the sales of Splendors and Passion which rule the roads here.

I tested it, and my initial comment was WoW.

And the WoW is not only for the looks department, the bike runs damn good. Very smooth bike and has good initial pick-up. The gear shift is butter soft, as the Honda trademark.

If you want mileage reading, I cannot specify on that. But seeing its a Honda which supplied the famous 97.2 cc engine to Hero Honda, mileage wont be an issue here.

So take this bike if you want: Looks, Ride Quality, and Mileage.

But why are your views on Pulsar 135LS not good?
Have you test ridden it? Its the best Pulsar yet, and still looks so different from the current Pulsar group. This bike also lands in your budget. Its got Looks, Handling, Great 4 valve Engine, and Mileage as well. Its a boon to ride in the Traffic as you dont need to change gears much, as the 4 valve engine does wonder and the bike runs in 20kmph in 5th gear!
Read a review: The Bike Chronicles of India: Bajaj Pulsar 135LS Review [over a week of ownership experience]: Part I

Waiting for Yamaha SZ is not wise, as its still a concept and might take a lot of time to hit roads.

      gladiator all the way

If you are a biker sort of guy on a budget, go for the gladiator.
Owners would tell you (I am one) that everytime you ride the bike, it never stops bringing a little smile to your face with its handling, cornering, power delivery, braking, riding..Its simply amazing.
Yamaha service, spares etc etc can make you think but the way the company is going now a days I readlly dont think you need to worry much..Yamaha is definately the most happening brand now.
And you know it is a very well engineered bike..once you own it..you will never repend.
sure the other bikes are good, but you have that Yamaha gene in the Gladiator..that something extra..

i had a test ride of honda twister, it was really good with good initial pic up.. but the issue is tht it somwht looks smaller from back....

I cannot trust pulsar brand as these bikes are not reliable nd the pulsar brand is very common nowadays..

Coming to the gladiator, i liked the looks but havent tried it.. Dont know how is the initial picup, milage, reliability etc.. I feel gladiator look big compared to twister.... but still confused.. Thanks..

K if you think Pulsar brand is a problem, then skip it. But one thing I can tell you is that the Pulsar 135LS is really different from other Pulsars and the build quality is excellent and feels to last.
Go take the CB Twister. Hey come on you are going to ride the bike from back side? That cannot be a deciding factor. It looks small due to the new Tail section which has integrated Grab Rail. Mileage, Quality, Comfort cannot be questioned as its a Honda!

Gladiator is a very good bike, I have also tested it, and I recommend you to also test it. But the thing is Gladiator now looks dated. And the Yamaha SZ is coming to replace it. But the ride quality and cornering is great on this Yamaha. The only thing which this bike lacks is the grunt at lower speeds, and also the mileage is not upto the marks of other 125CC bikes.

I dont force you to go for Pulsars, but I recommend test riding it and read this thread: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...ar-135-ls.html

I started a similar Thread few days back in which I have mentioned how I have zeroed to Twister !!

Having tough time selecting a bike and looking for experts’ opinion? Then this is the place for you...

Also these are some of the disadvantages of the bike according to another member Pinaki

I had almost decided to buy honda twister for it's fantastic combination of
minimalistic styling ( which I like ) , great mileage and a sweet 9 bhp Honda engine ... but on close inspection and test drive of the bike i grew several reservations which now makes me think that it's not a "practical" vehicle for Indian conditions .

            1) lack of any storage space - where am i supposed to keep even the bike's ownership tax insurance emission etc papers ? or even a bottle of water or a spare clutch/brake/acc cable ? means I would have to carry a side-bag or back pack everytime i go out with the vehicle . The dealer says and it appears so also , that it would be ugly and almost impossible to fit the bike with a side storage box / pannier . No rail / hook etc anything to tie any stuff / luggage for a long drive .

            2) even if a saree-guard can be fitted the bare chain and open rear makes it very likely for a saree / salwar clad female to get entangled , if she is able to climb up the high narrow rear seat at all .

            3) my city , calcutta , has heavy and long monsoons and is very muddy and has lots of potholes puddles and laterlogging . I am unsure what a daily wash for hours of rain and driving thru slush and sticky mud would do for the open rear chain . I would not like to clean & oil the chain everyday when I am back home wet & tired and need rest and tea instead . I think if honda knew any better about real indian street conditions it would make atleast an optional full chain-cover for it .

            4) leg guard / saree guard not "standard-fitting" for 50k+ Rupees ?? These japs are funny

            5) tank-side faux air scoops are thin plastic and likely to crack if the bike falls or scraped by another vehicle etc , making a costly replacement for just a cosmetic part , it's not connected to the engine orair intake etc in any way .

            6) only toe shifter for gears and no option to fit a full toe-heel shifter too,
ruins my shoes and impossible to use with sandals , I hate it .
            Pinaki .

hey tann please don't go by a misconception that pulsar is not reliable
              who says so?
pulsars are good on all departments be it performance , mileage ,pricing , looks(might have lost the uniqueness now) , maintainance , the spares are damn cheap compared to other brands.

but still the ride is just as good as the rider.

but i completely agree with you on the commonness part.
              well for your query:

i would suggest you to take a test ride of all your choices
but my personal opinion would be to go for the twister : good pickup, looks, mileage(a 110cc ridden anyways would deliver back ~65+kmpl easily) .
              anyways
              happy selection troubles.

like R2CRAWFORD , i also feel that CB twister is not a very practical bike for daily bike. when you look in the bike , its became evident that bike is designed ground up to look good , and to accomplish this honda probably sacrificed some practicality .

First of all this bike feels too much plasticky(fibers?whatever ) , true that every bike uses plastic , but even the real grab rail(not exactly 'rail' here) is also made of plastic !! the cowls are bit too 'floating' from the body and a single fall will probably break a large part of the cowl/visors . also the bike is actually quite small.dont really catch eyes when parked with other bike .

i took a very short test ride , like quarter mile . it feels peppy compared to other 100cc bike. but the key is '100cc'. when you compare it to bike like gladiator/p135 or even discover 135 which comes near its price bracket , this is no more an advantage.

you should seriously consider Gladiator. its quite big and actually feel like riding powerful bike . and the matte black+maroon version looks great and catches eyes. its pretty big bike and is noticeable even when parked next to zma(honestly).

about mileage , for your small riding length , you'll probably shell about 2 litre more fuel thats about Rs.100 more a month . i dont think that should be very big problem .

                      Hi tann,

I am in fact surprised that you have pushed P135 from the list. I too have the feeling that Pulsar brand name is growin up like something. In fact the only small reason I hate it is due to its popularity. But Pulsars are great bikes anyday. Coming to the discussion, P135 is pretty good and damn value for money. It's got loads of features which no other bike offers in this segment. But if your mind says no, leave it alone.

Twister is a great and brilliant product from Honda. Mileage is good but you can't expect the perfomance of a 125cc bike. It also looks like a 125+cc bike. If you want use your bike frequently on highways stay away from this bike. It is purely a city bike and pretty good at that.

My vote is for the Gladi any day dude. The bike looks and performs like a 150cc bike. Also it gives good mileage(say 55). But that goes well only if you are not pushing it hard. Needless to say, you get a Yamaha's reliability. The best part of Gladi is that you can cruise and also rip if you want. But that comes with a setback in mileage. Over all I feel it is the best 125cc package available now.

One thing that I tell everyone. After you've got a bike, your bike's condition and shape not only depends on your care but also the way it gets serviced. So do get to know the service capability of the respective dealer from the locals.

                      100cc doing 100+ is awesome!!

I too am confused between these 3 bikes. My dad wont allow anything above 125 cc so pulsar is out of question but still istn't the gladdy's engine a bit outdated? And I have also heard that Yamaha offers very poor service. I went and checked out the twister and it looks better than the gladdy and also gives better milage but gladdy can give you power. Not that twister is a weakling because I have heard guys say that the twister can go all the way upto 80-90 km/hr. Is this true?
I would rather be riding my bike thinking of God, than sitting in the temple thinking of my bike.

                          Horror
I own a twister. Apart from the gearbox (specific to my bike), every thing is good. Glad has more power, so if pickup is important to you, go for it.
However, considering the recent price rise (fuel), Twister will give you better mileage.

Also, Honda has more service centres, so you might want to consider this also.

The Twister essentially uses the new Activa engine.

What is the on-road price of Glad?
                          Twister (disc + elec start) = 59.5 K
                          Shine (disc + elec) = 62 K
Stunner (no disc , elec start) = 61,000. I find the fixed fairing irritating.

Also consider the Glamour (HH 125CC).

You cant go wrong with the twister.

Hey buddy, whatever you are considering now costs around 60k.. you get P135LS in the same range.. so if possible try to convince your father and get P135LS. Why not go for the best available in your budget?? Also, the mileage figures reported for Twister are not very encouraging.. couple of my friends have got it, even after second service they are getting around 50 mark, which I feel is low for 110cc bike. On the other hand I'm getting 55+ consistently..with P135. One more point is that it's lighter, which makes it a breeze in traffic.. and of course it's a 4-valve engine.. which was the single factor that influenced my decision.
