well my last querry is about maintenance.. which bike will require more maintenance? & which bikecan gimme service for long terms?? i wont mind if i'l have to go for zma.. but as i've heard that apache vibrates more after 2-3 yrs & karizma can run good for 4-5 yrs.. is it true??

I wud prefer rtr180 as it has good power and is well suited for city riding, and there is also a big price difference b/w both the bikes although u myt face vibrations which are tolerable. The bike wont break into pieces because of the vibrations. but karizma wud be better for the highway as it is more comfortable and has a stress free engine and can comfortably cruise @100 all day.
spares- karizma spares cost a bomb . RTR spares are cheaper and reliability also depends on the rider, its about how u maintain it. a well maintained rtr wud anyday be better than a poorly maintained karizma.

A piece of friendly advice- do install a leg guard on the karizma if u go for it

Regarding maintenance of Karizma, I own one for almost one year now. Done 13.5k so far. I "heard" that spare parts are expensive but so far has not put my wallet to the test yet, as In 13.5k The only maintenance required was free service and replaced one brake switch which costs about Rs.30 and speedo cable which I don't remember the price. The rest, Zero problem. So from my perspective, the maintenance cost is extremely low so far.

I am aware that disc pads costs a lot, but I don't mind as its quality is assured. If I want to be cheap, I can fit in RTR pads which I heard is direct fit .

            choice of bike or bikes?

1 life 1 bike, go for a RE buddy, ideal touring machine, raw power, tricky handling, gr8 thump(post minor mods)......what else do u need?

Buddy here are my choices -

              1) ZMA-R - Good in handling/comfort, tourer/commuter, ZMA has proved its features since years now and no doubt about the bike
              2) P220 - Good in handling/comfort, tourer/commuter, torquey than ZMA
              3) YAMAHA R15 - Yes this is something beyond your budjet and matches all your requirement, Power/Handling/Tourer and Commuter ... many more.

well friends yesterday i went for test drive my choices, but unfortunately i could only test rtr 180. karizma & r15 were not available that time. rtr was good but it was giving me vibes after speed of 60. vibes were tolerable but i'm afraid if vibes increase after some months.
next my requirement is around 70 kms driving on 4 lane open NH "daily" & some 40 kms may be in city. i want to knw about vibes in karizma. people say that i can daily travel @ 100 on karizma & it'l go smoothly. is it true?

karizma will run smoothly @100 easily as it is a long stroke engine and is a relatively stress free engine and although i suggested rtr to u earlier but i also believe that karizma wud be beter for highway runs as it is more comfortable and definately more smoother and vibe free at higher speeds

my experience from test drive of apache rtr 180:
i drove in city so couldnt go beyond 65 bcz of traffic, vibes were lite, bike didnt get tired in reaching upto 65 & i felt that it can go upto 90 without crying, sitting posture & styling is good.. handling was good too & on turns i felt that i can lean the bike on 1 side while taking d turn..
now i've to wait til i get test drive of karizma..

                      here are my views

1)zma.....established proven reliable relaxed tourer...just change the tyres to tubeless ones...less maintenance...just costly spares...lesser mileage than p220

2)p220dtsi....lots of maitenance...lots of power and torque..obviously a faster tourer than zma but not as relaxed at zma...engine gets heated quickly and loss of speed of around 5 to 7kmph is seen(in my experience)..mileage more better than zma

3)fazer: i dont consider it as a tourer at all...low power, less seating space at the back...rims not designed to withstand Indian roads.bad FE

4)r15...not in your budget but consider it for technology...good fe,AWESOME handling (better than 220 or zma) a little abd in city riding...

FAZER handling is one of the best I found it to be much much better than FZ it is like to the one in R15.. Get it if you can sacrifice on the power..

ZMA is just an ok bike to me I won't suggest it..

APACHE 180 is the machine you should opt for or P220 if you can sacrifice on mileage
