  • R15 vs ZMR

Hii....for long i have been invisibally active on Xbhp.com as really not knowing what to say/comment, but now i need help in deciding a bike.

Sole criterion of choice will be performance, handling and styling(all being equally important). According to my knowledge I have shortlisted R15, ZMR and RTR180. Price and FE are not of much concern(but not ninja) and bike will mainly be used for city riding. I think handling is as important as performance as latter can only be then fully exploited.

Also I wish to ask if there is any reality in launch of YAMAHA 125, Yamaha 250 cc and TVS 2xx cc bike in India.
    Thanks

If you'll use the bike primarily for city riding then the rtr180 is the best pick for u...

PERSEVERE... failure is not an option!

if u r above 5 feet 7 inches go for the zmr..or close ur eyes and go for the r15..but dont buy the zmr as an upgrade to the old zma...they are 2 different bikes when u actually ride them.take a test ride and see.

                  Same confusion!!!

Thanks Blak for creating this thread.. Even I am now confused between these 2 bikes.. Both are good very good bikes with good looks..

I am 5.3" and planning to upgrade my ride (from P200) with any of these bikes.. I have some experience of riding the ZMA R and liked it too.. But didnt get a chance to ride any of the bikes between ZMR and R15..

Lets c what people in xBHP suggests!! So I will also keep an eye on this thread now onwards..

I dont get the logic behind height and bikes. it is pointless as most of our desi biikes have more or less the same seating position.

@Topic, close your eyes and get the 15, a far better experience than the zmr. Period.

It seems you never ridden any other bike other than your Pulsar.

The height matters a lot no matter whether you are in India or anywhere else in the world. A person with a height of 5.3" can ride a Pulsar, ZMA or RTR comfortably where he will face lots of challenges to ride a RE (I doubt whether he will even be able to ride a RE) with that height. Because the height of the REs are a bit more + they are very heavy. You can try yourself what I said..

I have seen some short and skinny guys riding RE STD350. I know some short sikh dues who can ride there REs better than there taller siblings.

I am 5`4ish and I nvr found myself uncomfortable on any bike. Height dont matter, its just that some bikes look weard on short people like us. I am almost invisble sitting on a ZMR , while i look awesome on a R15 . I stay away from RE's, they seem damn scary to me.

@back to topic: Both ZMR and R15 are great bikes. They behave in completely different way and both are huge different in seating position and the way they Pull.

If u are ok with low torque and want a bike that handles unlike any other bike in India than go for R15.

If u want some good torque, a FJRish seating position and a Bike that turns heads everywhere than go for ZMR.

Though i would still suggest to Test ride both and pick up whichever you like.

Saddle height of the bikes you mentioned:
                              Pulsar 220: 795mm
                              ZMA./ZMR : 795mm
                              RTR : 790mm

                              RE
                              STD: 760mm
                              Electra: 780mm
                              Tbird: 770mm

I hope you understood what I intend to bring to your notice...

I still feel, despite the much lesser no of ZMRs on the roads, R15 still turns more heads than the slightly disproportionate ZMR.
