nothing beats a FZ in city be it any indian bike

.. the way it handles through the traffic is just mind blowing.. leaving a grin on your face everytime you overtake someone from the smallest gap..

Why you should go for the FZ:
The Fz has got really good ride quality and grip on the roads... you'll need the grip during overtaking, cornering, braking, and steady traffic zipping... the reason being the fat tyres and the suspension!!.. the monocrosss suspension absorbs pot holes and rough terrain very well.. it doesn't bounce about like the pulsar and also on the other hand during long arched bends on gravel filled road you need to have good suspension to be in control of the bike in case someone comes head-on during overtaking or any other situation you can apply the brake and still be on the bike... unlike the pulsar will just slip and may cause injury due to its not very grippy tires and crap suspension... the FZ has good acceleration and pickup you'll definitely have control of the bike during emergency situations and braking.... the riding position is absolutely superb if you can get an FZ-s but the FZ is pretty good too... the shorter wheelbase and wide handle gives you more control of the bike in any situation....
THe FZ is the bike you need especially the looks dont compare it to anything else... its out of the league and im sure it will pass its looks on to you as-well... the R15 has a nice body but that engine and tyres dont go with it does it?the same applies to the
ZMR it looks weird!!!!!
FZ is built perfectly compared to the other Indian bikes, the attachments/parts and body panels dont wiggle about making creepy noises which happens in all other indian bikes you name it.!!! its a good fit and will preserve its looks, quality, paint work and reliability, longer than the other bike!!!

the choice is your buddy.. choose wisely.... Goodluck!!!

and btw you started two threads about you getting some vibes from the handle switches and Engine shutting down on your FZ ... you should throw some light on that too it would help the TS..

1. Post some honest advices on the forum and that should help the thread starter ... its not like that you own a FZ so youll praise it and claim all other bikes as CRAP.

4. you should be a silent spectator for now and see how all others are posting .... learn some manners and GROW UP.

5. go to threads and see what language is being used here on Xbhp and when you feel like you are ready to go then start posting until then be silent and just GRASP .

what the hell man, just coz you own an FZ does not mean that every other bike is bad. I could point out many cons of the fz but those would be said in a constructive manner to help the person buying the bike get a clearer idea; not the way you've posted.

Sir, as far as buying a used bike goes, I was told a very useful lesson by rx100.7050 , do not think about buying an FI bike unless you are really sure about the internals(which only happens when you personally know the person who's selling the bike......and he has maintained the bike well).

So, here's my answer to you question:

R15
The R15 is NOT a city bike, she does not do well in traffic jams, although you will get attention as if you were angelina jolie walking around without any clothes on :P. She's a bike that you can learn leaning on. She's the perfect starter bike for someone who wishes to join the super-bikers league in the future. A brilliant handler, with the best braking in any class, but sadly the lack of low-end torque makes you have to shift gears every now and then.

P220dtsi/220 dts-fi
Both the bikes are practically the same, and both are highway cruisers. As for city riding, you can ride a 220 easily, but the additional amount that you would be spending on the bike would be use-less (apart from exclusivity from all the other pulsars out there)......it would be like you'd be trying to race around a track with a rolls-royce while your competitors are in full-blown 800bhp nascars cars :P.....is the rolls-royce a bad car?? nope certainly not, but it's place is not on a race track. Similarly, a P220's place is on the open highways

FZ16
hmm, you want a city bike that looks good with fuel-efficiency of 35kmpl. the fz looks good, has good low-end torque(that means lesser need of shifting gears), delivers around 40kmpl if ridden sedately. There your bike dude. Go scout your local second hand market for an FZ

R15 isnt exactly the kind of bike you'd like to ride in bumper to bumper traffic.it's very much fun to ride on open roads though....but having said that,I believe the FZ and P220 are bikes to buy here and i believe the P220 will suit your requirements just fine

220 Fi is shorter geared than the new 220. 220FI gives you better roll on times than the new one. But in outright acceleration / top speed New 220 is better. FI is a bit softer sprung than the new one. i.e. plusher ride than the new one. But, new one takes advantage of the harder suspension + soft compound tyres resulting in better handling than the FI.

In other words.. 220 Fi and 220F are not 2 different bikes.. they are 2 variants of the same bike. Choose as per preference.

GOU - I can see that.. you said that you need the bike for City use. And that certainly means there will be times when you will be riding with a pillion (read - wife). To be honest.. FZ's pillion seat is not suitable for females.. wearing Sari. Pillion has to sit cross leg.. else she wont be comfortable. Take it or leave it.

So its not a matter of your comfort.. Its also a matter of your wife's comfort. FZ is illogical choice for that. My take.

You need a good commuter which can also deliver decent fuel efficiency. Now in that.. you have plenty of options to choose from which will be fast and comfortable too. And how about you going out on Highway ride with your Wife.. on a bike. Trust me.. it will be more enjoyable than a Car.

Here goes the list.
1) P220 (as already discussed.. but its a not a daily commuter bike.. trust me)
2) Apache 180 - Perfect Traffic cutter. Very good street bike.
3) Pulsar 180 - very good deal.
4) R15 - You wont be able to make good use of full potential of bike.. unless you hit the Race Track. Illogical choice for a family man. and its not value for money in terms of what you spend.. and using full potential of bike. Bike is class apart.. no doubt about that.
5) Unicorn or Unicorn dazzler. But its just 150 cc for your use. But very good and comfortable City machines. (and it comes with Monoshocks too)
6) Suzuki.. GSR150. A good commuting machine.

Take the test drive.. and get what you feel is the best for you.

I understand every bike is good in its own rights and they all serve their purpose well. Its just that people buy bikes on their requirements. Thats why they all sell.

Friends, I would like to know more from experienced folks about the performance of dual suspensions after 1 or 2 years of usage. I don't want to offend anyone on this. Suspensions in my old HH Passion were very good initially, but detoriated over the years and I had to change it after 3-4 years when it became a simple spring.

Though I know that suspensions in Pulsars are definitely better than Passion, but still would like to get an honest opinion from people using the bike P220 for sometime to know if it is really good. I am worried if I buy an used P220 the suspensions might already be in a bad shape. Again, don't want to offend anyone just want to know about it

As if now, it seems I will have to rule out R15 for city, but as they say game is still not over

Apache 180, any inputs how it fares compared to others. I guess its not as powerful as P220 and does not have as good street abilities as FZ. So I dismissed it initially.

. I could relate to what you have mentioned. Yes R15 the looks are very tempting. P220 does not as good as R15, but still retains some exclusivity. FZ a more practical choice. But are we always practical in making choices?

Looks like 220 FI suits me better for better roll on figures and softer suspension.

Riding with my wife is not that big factor as we mostly travel in car on weekends and our offices are in opposite directions

. Though would definitely to ride it more together than our current Activa. Morever, she does not wear Saree, so FZ should not be problem

. She also likes the looks of the bike. But would definitely ride is once with her before making any decisions.

Drove a friends Unicorn to office, needs more torque I guess.

Apache 180, engine sounds good though I have never driven it. Again not sure on dual suspensions. I think P220 will be better choice that it. Though I would try to consider your advice and try to TD it.

Thanks for the inputs. As I said earlier, I understand mono is a better technology
. But I believe suspensions in P220 are not as bad as older Pulsars or Passion. This is what I feel and I may be wrong. I think FZ has better COG, which is good. But, I have heard
tyres in P220 are good and made of soft compound so grip is good.

boss apache is best in handling after r15 in indian bike's & moreover it is the best machine for street racing just take a test ride of apache 180 & if possible ride it a bit hard , i am sure you'll love it it has awesome torque

Apache 150 had many issues,but after TVS launcjed RTR variant of Apache it has gained a lot of popularity among the performance loving Bikers!TD apche rtr 180 and Fz and you will get to know what I am trying to say!

Well since managing potholes is your primary criteria and since you are a city commuter go for either the FZ-16 or the P220. Definitely FZ has got a better engine and is pretty smooth. P220 has vibes as you said. But when leaving from traffic signal you can feel more rush from P220 than the FZ.
Since you live in bangalore I guess there will be enough fast bikes on the front line of the traffic

. So if you are worried about leaving first, then go for P220 or if a little slow start is ok then go for FZ. But in city there isn't much differnce I believe

But FZ is rightly names as LORD OF THE STREETS

. It is much much lighter than the P220 and you can flick easily which is a bit tough on heavy bikes. P220 was built for perfomance but it manages potholes well and I guess that's why it has creeped into your list. I could have suggested many bikes but since you want something different I am also going around the roundabout.

I think you should pull R15 out of the equation, since I feel R-15 for all time city riding is a big NO. Great bike, no doubt but not practical for your usage.

RTR is worth considering. Awesome low end and mid range torque. Exactly what you need for city. It manges potholes but not as good as the others. Again you have those high frequency vibes on this bike. But some find it as a fun factor and some feel it is irritating. The seats are a bit hard I believe.

If you want something good that deals potholes we have many bikes, but I think you are asking for something that not many people have. Right sir??

Well....as everyone says, FZ seems to be the practical choice but other bikes are not bad either. You can consider karizma(not ZMR)also. Great bike. Most importantly it has very comfortable riding posture. It also has nice torque at low rpm.

So do update us all frequently and what you feel on test drives taken on various bikes. I guess my seniors here will be able to guide you better than me. I am only 18. LOL

watever dude.... my views were not to stamp the other bikes on the ground its just facts not coz i own an FZ ive riden the others too... are u saying that the ZMR or the R15 looks good with its wide body n skinny tires??? ill say the yzf 125 looks better or the honda cbr 125 looks good too.... its just facts according to the question on page 1.... and i think the FZ is better than the ones i disliked in my reply each to their own!!!

Ohh and by the way i don't know whom to blame i actually met with an accident today and u know what... i think my front rim is crooked and my brake disk gone... Ive posted another thread here on the help me section i would appreciate help over there... don't be mad at me but i still think the R15 and ZMR look funny!!! its just my views thats it if i don't like it i say i don't like it ... my personal honest opinions!!! Ive got plenty of manners thanks for bringing that up!!

anyway help me with my bike if you would...
