  • Harley Davidson 883 Roadster or Sportster

Having booked a Royal Enfield 500 Classic and then having to wait 8 gruelling months for it to come to me, I am getting tempted with the Two Harleys.

If I had to make a choice between the Sportster and the Roadster what would it be? And Why?

Of course I am not sure whether these are even available anymore or have the bookings closed. Plan to visit Tusker Harley this weekend to find out more. But some advice would help.

    Cheers!

The sportster is available, its a good bike, dont know the price. About the Roadster no info. If you can dishout more cash go for the harley its ages better than a bullet(showing its ages despite new features) and harley also offers finance.

These are two different categories, cannot compare an RE with HD for power or money; anyway both are legends on their own category.

Basically both of them have same engine, power, almost the same dimension, the differences that I see is the seating position & position of handle bars that gives a almost a laid back riding position on XL883.

Well the last I heard about 3 weeks ago was there were 2 883XL available & one being black. Not sure what's the position now. Appreciate your visit to Tusker & update us on this forum.

Let us know if you've any more questions.

        dont know the price.

Well, what info is needed? Pls elaborate (Harley-Davidson India - Home)

True but I'm keeping my mouth tight for now

        harley also offers finance
Nope; In India they've tied up with ICICI for financing the motorcycles

You see, I have booked the RE and I am keeping it. I know both bikes are world apart but each has its own little world. And having ridden a 1975 350 and then recently a 500 classic, I have no doubt in my mind.

Over the past few days I have been mulling over adding the Harley to the stable. And now I think I am sure to get one.

There is a small glitch but, I hear only a few or probably no bikes are available for booking.

Keeping my fingers crossed and contacting Tusker tomorrw!

BTW which would be the best colour for the Sportster? Black out of picture. Between Blue and Scarlet red?

Sorry buddy, all day I dream of Silver and/or Black; Trust me nothing beats the beauty of them. Just to give an opinion, Scarlet is better than Blue.

                Hi Guys,

Just wanted to inform you. I ended up buying the 883L. A blue one. Took quite a while to get delivered. But the baby is awesome. Pure fun.

But please don't ask me about the sales experience I would rather not think about it.

Congratulations. When did you buy one? If you've bought anytime recently, did you give a thought about Iron 883?

@vishdes : was the sales experience that bad!! i was actually thinking it would be otherwise especially when Harley had chosen their dealers carefully and considering this is a premium segement.

Congratulations. Please share your riding experience in detail. Did you join the recent HOG ride to Mysore?

My experience with Tusker team Srinivas/Zac/Koushik was pretty good. May be they have improved over a period of time

If you are looking for May/June, you should probably book now. I heard that there were >30 Iron bookings from Bangalore Showroom itself, even before seeing the bikes (forget about experiencing a test ride ).
