  • Activa or Access

    Hi guys,

My dad is looking for a nice scooter between Activa and Access.. He has been riding activa since 2006 and now looking for a new one..

    Requirements :
Low on maintenance (Should be trouble free)
Headlight quality (Which one has better comparitively ?)

Although a scooter which is better looking is optional requirement and if possible please also post the mileage figures of both the scooters

      May i help you CJ

Your dad using activa since 2006, why don't you recommend access for your dad? It's bloody good than the current activa .

My dad took last month only so don't know about maintenance.

Access having the best head lamp in this category IMO.

      Mileage for activa 110cc- 50+
      Mileage for access 125cc- 45.

      Anything else CJ?

Having ridden the access for some short periods, the imminent difference comes from the telescopic front shocks, really really matters when you have roads that arent good, activa's front end uses the age old 'rod' of a suspension .

Mileage figures are similar but access is very decently powered for the city. Activa and access

Secondly honda has a nice waiting period for activa. Even with increased production, the waiting period would be long enough.

In terms of lighting both activa and access are with 35W halogen bulbs so illumination is decent .

I own a Access for the past 2.5 years. Its been a great experience. Great Power Delivery and Handling. Low Maintenance. Though my sister rides at most of the times. She has covered 8.5k kms in the past two years. Other than the battery recently giving problems due to its age, the vehicle doesnt require anything more than the regular services (8 of them are free under warranty).

Yes I do feel the brakes in both Activa and Access should be upgraded to Disc in the front, they do have good braking for a speed range of 40 - 60 kmph. But they're much more capable than those speeds and suffer due to the brakes.

The Access does give a mileage of 45 + when ridden sanely.

The Headlight is really good, I never have to actually use the HIGH beam, the LOW is sufficient even on roads without street lighting.

Both the vehicles Access and Activa will have expensive and will require genuine spare parts on a long run.

Personally I do refer to my Access as the "The Choti Busa", the rear lamp does resemble the tail of the Busa.

Access would give you a change in brand too.

Otherwise, both the vehicles are on par with each other. The Access being slightly powerful but I dont think you are considering that factor.

Y dont you consider the Aviator too ?

Thank you... Will consider the suspension too as the roads here are pretty bad!

Thank you from your review Access seems to be a better option.. I had opted out of Aviator cos it looks awkward to me

Though I own an Activa for over 5 years, I used to recommend Access 125. Having seen the poor build quality of Suzuki yesterday (cable broken in 4 months of GS150 in warranty), I now started having my own doubts if the build quality is reliable w.r.t Suzuki. Anyway, buying is one time job but maintenance is life time; check your feasibility to your nearest available A.S.S for Suzuki & Honda.

He has been riding activa since 2006 and now looking for a new one
So could you share your experience with owning a Honda for 4 years now? Is it a replacement or an addition? What was your experience with owning one?

@Xenologik: Thanks for the inputs dude. Yesterday itself i would have replied but forced to shut down the pc to watch GER vs AUS game.

@lakhanironak: Did you check the SUZUKI ACCESS 125cc in motorcycle ownership thread? Pls share some or your scoot pics in the ownership thread.

CJ: Check the A.S.S both HONDA & SUZUKI for service & spares before going any one of the scoot, & most importantly check the waiting period of activa. I think you won't have to wait too long for access alike activa. Go with your dad for both Scooter test ride, in the day end he would prefer the access than activa.

PS: If you are buying access, Congrats in advance.

As I said My Sister rides it mostly, (I zoom around on my fazer ) We both live seperately, Hence I get to see the vehicle only in her absence or when it needs to be taken to the ASS .. Will post some pics soon.

Almost everybody is suggesting Access here... So would do a decent TD and then confirm my decision
