  • HELP: Second hand FZ-s

I am planning to buy May 2009 model FZ-S -19000 kms odo reading- modified like RI( Very badly done job -the guy has welded several clamps -even on the chasis no - to fix the R1 kit- he was quoting 60,000.But afterwards he met with an accident and R1 kit damaged beyond repair.More over the side panels and exhaust cover(both silver and black)are full of scraches. There is no chasis damage or problem with suspension. Now what should i do ? Can I buy this one for 50K? Is it a bargain? What is the service to be done at 20000???

well i would say to avoid the second hand bikes strictly unless if you are buying from a person you know very well. Moreover the bike is accidental. So it is better to leave the bike & add 15-20k more to your budget & buy a brand new bike. AFAIK the bike might have the warranty also void due to the modifications done(correct me if i am wrong).

So go for any new bike only.

i would be great if u can post a pic of this bike . most of these type of bikes are badly modded and engine is never really cared for by owners . on top of that its had a fall . for the price quoted i would stay away and buy something better .

As you said chassis is weld up and the bike is also accidental. Stay away from this bike dont take it even if he gives it for 20k. There are WAY better condition used bikes out there at lower prices.

there is no rule that you have to take a 150cc only. If you want a bike with good performance then bajaj discover 150 & p135 are the pocket rockets & are not too costly also or else if you are a yamaha fan then you can try out the yamaha gladiator.

                          Hey bro,

Nopety Nopety nope!! Stay away from this thing. If you buy it your gonna land up with a FZ that gives ridiculously low mileage(say 30-35 or even less), overheating problems(as the owner himself agrees) plus you'll go mad with maintainence. It's gonna put a big hole in your pocket.

Solution:Either save up some money and go for a good new 150cc bike or try to get a worthy second hand 150cc(or lower) bike from a reliable seller. 250kms a month means, going for a 125-135cc bike will be worthy. 125cc bikes these days offer optimum mileage as well as adequate perfomance. That way you could consider the Gladiator, P135 or the new Discover150(Damn cheap @ Rs46,000). Discover is the same from outside but performs almost similar to the P150. Mileage should be around 50-55.

                          100cc doing 100+ is awesome!!
150cc cornering like hell is great!

Thanks for all your comments-I dropped the plan.I want a fun bike to ride.So I will go for FZ for sure.May be a new one also.A new FZ costs 71+ onroad in kerala. With a three year loan from HDFC another 18k + comes in addition.so it becomes 90 K .Thats why i planned of going for a second hand FZ.The main attraction was that this guy promised to keep the finance open- so i will pay the rest 23 installaments. So pay 10K and get this FZ.Anyway the plan is dropped.I will wait till end of July -only after the monsoons-Is it expensive to maintain an FZ ( mileage is no problem)???.

maintance is on bit higher side as compare to other 150CC.. if you really like it go for FZ it is bit underpowered as compare to others in the category. do buy the performace kit available with yamaha if you can... but i would suggest you to go for pulser 180 or 220 (without full fairing) if you really love performace(being owner of RX i suppose you do) in budget. will cost you more or less same as FZ.
