  • The Great Dilemma Pulsar 150 vs 180

    Hi Guys

I am planning to buy a new bike tomorrow

    Eariler I was confused b/w Pulsar 180 & RTR 180,
So today I went to ShowRooms and had a Test Ride of Both Bikes

RTR 180 - Engine looked more smooth, I dinnt like poisture
Pulsar 180 - Good Poisture, Was more comfortable wid breaking

I faced problem in shifting gears on both the bikes, they looked kind of hard May be coz I am new to toe shifting. Any way

Now as I dinnt liked the poisture so RTR 180 was out of equation also TVS guy quoted low too much for my glamour

No while talking bajaj salesman I asked him if given chance which bike u will buy P150 or P180

he said He will prefer p150
    Coz
U will not notice much difference in performance
Split sear can also be fitted in P150 @ 1400 rs
But there is difference in Milage of 5 kmpl b/w both
Maintanance will be cheaper for 150

All his arguments looked valid to me so I was confused

So I am here infront of all u guys

    I travel 42KM on weekdays
    Height : 5'11''
    Weight : 75KG
    Current Bike : Glamour 125

Now My Questions are very simple
Is there any difference in poisture for p150 and p180
what will be diff in maintnance cost, say for 1 year
Is difference in performance is small
What are advantages of Split Handle bar

and at last Which Bike should I buy

    few more questions
They have quoted 27,500 for my Glamour (30/12/2007). Is is good price
(Bike is in good condition except few minor scratches)

What checks I should perform Befor Buying new Pulsar

Help me out guys as I will be buying bike tomorrow only
No Matter Whether Guys buy 220cc Pulsars or 350cc Royal Enfields,
It is used only to follow a 80cc Scooty Pep...

If you are tall you will be more comfortable on the new P180.. the new P180 is longer and has a wider seat compared to the P150. Also the footpegs have been rear set, so now longer legs can now grip the fuel tank more properly.

The P150 would cost around Rs. 5K less and would return better fuel efficiency than the P180 but then the power / pickup would be comparitively lower as well. apart form that the P180 has wider tyres which are tubeless too (which is a boon as it doesn't deflate suddenly in case of a puncture).

Maintenance wise both the bikes should cost you the same as both bikes share many common parts.

If you are tall and want a comfortable bike and can live with silghtly lesser fuel efficiency, then go for the P180. Best would be to take the test ride of both bikes back to back and then decide for yourself. Who knows you might find the P150 more comfortable than the P180.

maintainence wise not much difference only fuel bill will be higher in the p180 and the price .the seat can be made into a split one at a much lower cost than 1400 as quoted to you .
you get wider tubeles tyres ,a larger disk , longer wheelbase to make cornering more stable in the P 180 , and last but not the least more power

P180 anyday. You might save few bucks on 150cc but you will miss the power of 180CC. And as far as I believe there should not be much difference in the maintenance costs.

I don't see why you shouldn't be going with the 180.Believe me,showroom guys are nutheads.I've met a variety of them,swear.....for just around 5k extra you get a whole lot of goodies and a better motorcycle.Better because,IMO there are better buys in the 150cc segment than the P150 and the same can't be said to the 180...

Can't really comment about the price for your Glamour..

The foot rest for ladies riding cross legged should be long with the saree guard.. the rear seat is wide and comfortable enough.

As everyone suggested here, go for the 180 mate! The bike won't disappoint you.

having both the bikes in my stable, i'd say go for the P180 but take good care of it tho....as i can say from personal experiences, that it gets sc**wed up easily if proper care is not taken
Be what you are, not what you want others to perceive you to be.

and Hey make sure you get the saree guard on, if u are getting elders on the bike... The bike does not incline as much as RTR (IMHO) ...

People may say saree guard might kill the looks - But on a longer run - with elders - I feel safety is better than looks (again IMHO)

Paid 40,000 cash and my old Baby (Glamour 125)
Got leather seatcover, Bike cover, helmet Stand and other acc fitted free of cost

Done only 7 kms till now (Distance b/w showroom and home), Have not crossed 50 AND 4k rpm (it was very difficult to control from speeding up )

Will go on a long drive 30-35 km in the evening, After performing Pooja

So what other precautions I should take other than Speed and rpm limit ???

                            Is it OK ???

After that I am planning to go on a 350Km trip to Moradabad wid my friend

                            Will that be fine ???
