Hi this is Raghavan from Chennai. I am a auto mobile enthusiast ...and my favorite past time is to repair bikes and make them non-runners.After learning much at my(and my friends) expense I have sort of restricted my activity..I own a KB 100( yes..1987 Feb) and a Lancer. in good running condition, which are the only victims of my experiments now.I am very happy to be part of Xbhp since sincere, open ,helpful discussions are on ,on all topics...not to forget very witty ,and positive ones

Thank you Mr.Ragavan,Jeyessh and Aargee for the warm welcome.I live in C.I.T nagar close to T'Nagar Bus terminal.I am not a youngster like you gentlemen but 58 yrs old. I started using bike from 1977 on when Rajdoots,Jawas were in Vogue. My first bike was a Kinetic 75 cc step through moped for a year in '77. Then I bought a Honda CX 125 Twin which could not be maintained due to lack of spares.I bought a Suzuki 100cc in 84 which lacked performance and road grip.In 86 i bought a Yamaha RX 100 and found it to be poor on stability at70Km speed .Hard Braking would make you go all over the place. In 87 I bought the KB 100 for its Stability even under wet condition.I used the KB for many a long trips. Those days even Our Anna Salai was empty and I could do speed of 80 in city.
I now face the problem of lack of spares for the KB also, since it had been discontinued esp.,bore, piston etc. I am presently on the look out for a used Pulsar 180 to continue my biking .I used to do limited mods for two wheelers which I had now stopped.I drive car more than two wheelers now..for the past 15 years....but the passion is still on.

Thanks and....sorry to note you have no tech snags ..did you know that a multi ground electrode spark plug can actually give you better combustion and resultant better mileage ?...and adding 0.5 to 1 % boron to engine oil will actually enhance smoothness and better low rpm performance? ......there I have put the bait on the hook...

Hi your present wheel is a P220 ? how is the bike ? I heard there are issues regarding front forke . I am planning to get a used P180 for my use since spares for KB are no longer available, and am looking for a good Two wheeler which can be maintained by me.I will do about 300 to 400 Kms per month.

Anyway the bait is true and I have extensively used the same with good result.
I am currently using NGK like this one with very good results in a Lancer

hmm...might be...i am bit technically challenged. Though i know lots of it

Anyways psr, P220 is best thing to happen to my biking in recent years (apart from long distance lessons on a R1 recently). I am very happy with the bike. I maintain it well. So no problems as of now. No front brake problem as well...(what kind of front brake issue youy talk about?) And i have done 4k+ kms on it.. Almost 3 monts old.

NGK is a very good spark plug for bikes too. I have seen god performances on Karizma.

Adding Boron may help especially on two fronts..first the friction thing. It provides better lubrication as boron molecules can slide over each other ver easliy. Secondly use of boron affects the carbon accumulation and is deadly for it.. So it looks good on paper. But how much mush amount we add, that is still a question:(

You can also ask this topic under 'Pit Stop:General Biking Discussion'. Quite interesting a topic

The model of plug is NGK BP6ET meant for 4 wheelers. The two wheeler version comes with two ground electrodes. Regarding the boron treatment I had tried in my bike ,my previous Maruthi Esteem and my present Lancer, with only good results. I had also tried it on my friends hero honda done 65K Kms and the mileage went up from 60 to 70 kms. On a pulsar done 20,000 kms it reduced the vibration, and the rider, a mechanic, forgot to fill oil in the next oil change and the bike ran for nearly 300 kms without seizing. The lack of oil was found out since there was abnormal heating and screeching noise from the bore.Fresh oil was filled and the vehicle is still running The effect is best when the vehicle had run atleast 20,000 Kms. Caution is more important as what is sauce for goose need not be the same for Gander......If you have old GOOD plugs you can side gap them and see good results.
Earlier P200 and 220 used to have front forks broken due to hard braking .
                              Adios for now
