I'm Shishir, 19 years old. I'm doing my engineering in comp science. Lived in Bangalore for the most part of my life. I'd been reading the various threads on xbhp since a long time, but hadn't become a member. Finally, thought I should register myself in order to increase my knowledge of bikes and also share my thoughts and views with like-minded bikers out here.
The driving/riding craze runs in my blood. The first 2 wheeler with an engine that I rode was the Kinetic Honda back when I was about 9 years old, with my uncle sitting as pillion ofcourse.
Then I rode the 1st gen Scooty, alone! This was also around about the age of 9 or 10yrs. It was an awesome experience: getting upto speed without muscle power! I loved it so much that I emptied the Scooty's petrol tank on the same day. hehe..
Later on, I rode Activa's, Dio's, etc., all un-geared. I always used to wonder how it would be to ride a geared motorcycle.
Then in 2006, at the age of 17, I got my own P150 DTSi in Black. I had zero experience of riding a geared motorcycle at that time. One of my friends rode the bike from the showroom to my house. I was sooo excited the next day, my very first ride on the bike. I never felt the fear of riding for the first time, it never occurred to me that I might drop the bike or something like that. Well, I just took off in first gear as if riding was second nature to me. Had few problems remembering which gear I was in initially, later even that problem vanished and rode comfortably. I fell in love with bikes instantly!! On the next day, dad and me went to the Bangalore University (open roads, less traffic) early morning for my riding practice. Rode constantly for about an hour: an exhilarating experience. I've been perfecting my riding ever since.
From then on, there was no stopping. I've covered 13000 kms since 2006 with one major fall.
Learnt a lot of lessons from that accident. Oh yes, I bought a helmet before I bought the bike. I cannot ride without a helmet now. A good habit enforced by my parents. I look forward to an enjoyable time on this forum.

Here is my bike. No mods except the removal of saree guard and tyre hugger. I've been following the regular services and I've had no problems whatsoever.
Cheers!
