  • CatchKumar - My Loved Vintage Possessions

    Hi All,

This is my first thread on the forum though i have been a silent spectator here for the past few months.
Thanks to (PowerTwin) Muthu Sir for introducing me this wonderful Forum.

I have always had a penchant for anything vintage & my love for them has me progressed into acquiring a few beauties for self from just drooling over them.

Here is my small humble collection -

    1. Laxmi 48
    2. Mofa
    3. Luna - Kokku Luna as its loving called in TN. (Ciao)
    4. AtlaSolex

Is it a good collection ?
To my bad none of them are in running condition.
My objective was to first have the beauties home & then embark on restoration which is time, effort & money consuming.

A little about my self -
Kumar aka Catchkumar, resident of Bangalore working for an IT company.
A great foodie :-) & an amateur photographer.

Looking forward to all the advice & help from all on the forum to help me get these beauties in shape.

    Welcome to xBHP Kumar
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

The Blue Moped you see in my first post is called AtlaSolex.
It was manufactured around 1975-1976 by Atlas Cycles in collaboration with Solex of France.

The blue one is a front wheel drive ...how does it work without a Chain / Belt.

          Interesting!!

....Drive from the Engine is transmitted by a FRICTION Roller on to the front wheels.....to be precise on the TIRE itself.
Before watching the video, I request you to visualize the scene ," HOW a Bicycle dynamo's Friction Roller is driven by a rotating wheel ( TIRE)"
There in your Bicycle >>> The rotating Tire drives the Dynamo Friction roller.......Here in ATLASOLEX>>>>>Rotating Friction roller is pressed on the Front wheel tire.....thus rotating the wheels>>>
                Now watch this>>

Seriously Muthu Sir...still on the hunt for it, looking at selling my 535 (Heart says no to it) but wanted some real adrenaline rush.

Let me see how it works out. keeping my eyes and ears open for a RD350, there are few which comes but either there is a prob with the book or the bike itself does has some issue, though with my little knowledge am able to find those problems.

10th am going to see 1 more, this is a KTK registered, but in Jodhpur, the owner claims that its a HT. Let me see it and then finalise.

                          Muthu Sir!!,

Thank you so much for the good news i was dreading how difficult my search would be to get original replacement for the front suspension.

Not sure if my guess is right but its the only thing that's coming to my mind now
You found a PIJAZZ moped by KGP
If am right Pleaseee post pictures sir.
Your thread has been a great inspiration to me and am sure a lot more people in having the wonderful bikes lost in time to get bring back home & restore it & your efforts to share your knowledge will always remain a strong reason for us to be confidant of our restorations.

                          Regards,
                          Kumar
