  • Introduction

    Hi everybody,
I have been surfing and reading posts at xBHP for some time now and have recently joined xBHP. An introduction seems to be in order.

Hi all, this is Steve B. I have been riding bikes for almost 20 years now. My Dad taught me on a Bajaj Super and after a few years of riding the super, I got a Yamaha RX 100 in 1993. Used that for school, then college in Delhi for almost 5 years and sold it off because i had got a Royal Enfield Machismo in 1997. Took this bike to delhi as well and was a frequent visitor to Karol Bagh, hunting for parts to customise my bike. Sold of the Machismo in 2004 and got the 2004 Electra. I really enjoyed the electra and took it to Bangalore for a few years. Heavily modded it there as i had made a friend in ShivaJi nagar. Cut the rear hub to fit 36 spoked eliminator hubs with fat tyres, removed tiger head and customised the headlight instrument cluster. raised the tank, custom mudguards and number plates. Finally got this bike back home and this bike turned out to be a headturner.

after a few years of riding, decided to built somthing new, so i got this wild idea to fabricate a springer fork . worked in a lathe shop for months and finally built a springer fork, increased rake for the bike, backbone extended, and customised Petrol tank and the bike was done. Solo rider with a customised leather seat ( from my dad's 1970's suitcase!).

after a few years, one of my old friend's requested for a test ride. My mistake! I let him have the bike. He didnt come back that evening with the bike , so i had to hunt him down. got information that night that my bike was seen in town. rushed off and recovered the bike, but she was damaged. Turns out the bugger ( who i considered my friend) was high on pills and managed to crash the bike bending the custom handle bars, dent the tank and tool boxes etc. Time for work on the bike again! This time made new fenders and new Petrol Tank, improved the foward foot controls, redesigned the headlights and custom paint sticker job.

sadly i suffered a back injury last december and i haste , i sold off my beloved electra. Of all the bikes , i regret selling this beauty.

Now i am finishing restoration and a little custom work on a old model bullet 350. just a few more nuts and bolts here and there to tighten up and she's done.

here are a few pictures of my beauties, starting with the electra post bangalore.....springer fork.....the black widow.....and the classic. couldnt find any pics of the rx 100 and the machismo.

hope you guys like it. I might be sellling the classic soon if i need to.

    Welcome to xBHP Steve

Thats a nice ride you've got there
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Thanks guys. Now I am facing a dilemma........ i have been offered a good offer on the bike i recently finished ( the green one ) , a 1978 ci bullet. No work done on the engine , i want it to run as long as it wants to, before i overhaul it ) , 25 L tank, solid brass monograms, new tyres, new seats ( classic) , i did all the work myself besides the painting. Have been tuning it and now she's perfect. Was planning to invest in a disk brake and a sans goldstar and keep INR10,000 for total engine overhaul and any work on gearbox-clutch. Electricals are ac/dc, no problems there. The bike runs uphill solo in 4th gear at 35-40 km/h and 30 km/h in 4th gear in plain roads, great for puttering around town. I dont plan to tour anytime soon, no long rides, just to work and back.
The thing is on one hand i want to sell it and add more money and get a new uce std 350 with disk brakes or a classic 350. on the other hand i would like to save my money too, just get a disk brake, a goldstar silencer and keep 10000 for engine repairs in the future.

          Now what should i do?
