  • Hello Biker mates!!

    Hello Bikers,

    I am Deepak.. Basically from Mysore.. But workin in Bangalore.

    Was searching the web for some stuff and plop!! I landed in the xbhp portal. And fellow mates!! I trust me.. This portal rocks..

    I got my Apache RTR 160 FI this Monday (22nd Dec). This bike tooo good. She is one beautifull piece of machinery. She urges you to ride.. Harder. All the while You feel the power running through the arms.. You feel the man.. and the machine.. Become one.. and then it is biker's heaven. The longest trip is from Bangalore to Mysore (approx 155 kms) and my top is 116 kms.. That is actually quite a lot as I weigh an approx 90 kgs!!

    I also own a Yezdi Classic 250. She is a different category altogether. She thumps along.. And with a Yezdi.. People life begins at 60 kmph!!

    I previously owned a Blaze.. She also was pretty good.. But damn comfortable and she did make heads turn..

    I do meddle a lil with photography too.. I own a Olympus E-410 DSLR.. Thats all I could afford.. With 14-42 mm and 40-150 mm lens..

    Thats it from me...

        Welcome to xBhp, Deepak!!

        RTR Fi is one helluva of a machine.I would advise you to please keep the revs low at this period of time. The first 1000kms for any engine is the most crucial part which would decide it's performance for the rest of it's life. Short burst of speeds is ok but please refrain from keeping the engine at higher revs for a considerable period of time. The ideal speed you should do is 50-60km/hr!!

            Chicane!! Please advise!!

            Sure Chicane... But I'm very unsure why it is told the initial 1000 kms is very important.. Actually wen I set off from Bangalore, I had decided not to cross 50 kmph and I did stick to it for the initial 45 kms.. But it was too tiring.. Riding at such low speeds.. So later on for the next 100+ kms.. I finished it off at 80+ kmph.. I mean.. Would it hurt the bike?? If so.. How?? Please lemme know..

                  @Deepak

                  The objective of running in an engine, is to get the engine to the point where all the rubbing surfaces are perfectly mated to each other at all temperatures likely to be attained, while causing as little wear to the engine as possible in the process. All the vital parts will gel well with each other if the running-in procedure is followed in a proper fashion.

                  Go through the service manual of the Apache and it's the best thing if you follow it religiously. Benefits are: The engine would be a 'better' engine throughout it's life, and that life would also be extended. 80km/hr is not too high a speed but as you were on a highway i think you must have hit 100km/hr in many occasions. It might not have harmed the engine but make it a point not to stress the engine for the next 1000-1500kms.

                              Hi Deepak,,

                              Welcome aboard. Chicane gave very good points on how to take care of a new bike. RTR Fi is a rocket, and it is one of my favourite indian bikes.

                              One more thing, when your bike is new that is (before 1000km) do not keep the rpm steady for a long time when u r touring.

                              Enjoy your stay.
