  • My First Time

    Hi all

My first post in this forum. I am glad I got accepted the second time around. My application to the site/forum was rejected the first time. I have driven and ridden a bit around India - no driving/riding outside India, yet, though a Gurgaon-Singapore-Gurgaon ride has caught my fancy - and is something I will do, if it am able to take a couple of months off.

I own a Triumph Street Twin 2017 that I have ridden for a little over 17,000 kms in almost 4.5 years of which 6,300 kms came in October 2020 when I rode Gurgaon-Mumbai-Belagavi-Udupi-Ernakulam-Madurai-Bangalore-Secunderabad-Jhansi-Gurgaon. That was a solo trip videos of which interested readers can find at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...uyvU8mh7RdGLEq

The first leg from Gurgaon-Mumbai I have no recording of as I was still trying to figure out the use of my helmet mounted Sena 10C that a friend had lent me and my brand new cheapie action camera. I had bought one BlueArmor chin mount and had stuck it on to the cheapie Rs 800 (including Rs 150) generic windshield - more on the windshield later.

The BlueArmor and the action camera fell off within the first fifteen minutes of the ride starting at 5am in Gurgaon. I found my way back a couple of hundred metres, picked up the pieces and went on my merry way through Agra and stayed overnight at Guna. The next day, I left Guna and rested at Nashik. The day after that, I reached Mumbai, Overall, it was a pleasant ride through national highways and except for a hot, dusty ride through crowded Gwalior city that was necessitated by the lack of an active Google Maps reference, I kept to mostly empty national highways where there was nowhere close to normal traffic due to the pandemic.

The ride from Belagavi to Udupi, Udupi to Ernakulam, Ernakulam to Madurai were fascinating, enchanting and worth the price of the trip. You may like to see the videos from the playlist above.

In December, 2020 my wife and I drove in our friends' (more family than friends in reality and closer to our hearts and minds than any family) Hyundai Creta (automatic). On that trip, we drove Gurgaon-Kota-Vapi-Bangalore-Chennai-Bangalore-Secunderabad-Baroda-Kota-Gurgaon - about 6,500 kms.

It is such a privilege to have been able to drive/ride almost 13,000 kms in two years one with my wife in the Creta and once solo on my lovely Triumph Street Twin.

More details in a future post. Soon. Hopefully.

    Cheers

    Drive and ride safe, everyone

Hello and welcome to the family. That Street Twin seems to have seen quite a lot, thanks to you. Feel free to share more of your memories here.
    Keep riding and ride safe.

I still remember my first time on the bike. That was a real disaster. I was with my ex and was given the right to ride. I felt so ashamed because I couldn't gel the machine steady, it was moving like a drunk sailor. Now I feel so funny recalling this though.
