              Re: Hello xbhp'ians

              Thanks for the responses guys..
Don't know from where to start but all these 6 years of my exp with Uni has been a sort of mixed feelings
well, the bike never let me down on its mileage or riding comfort esp during the long rides or during the rainy season and I am glad that I chose it as my first companion
I had a fall from the bike thrice once by braking suddenly to avoid a pothole, when a moron came from nowhere onto the middle of road and quite recently while trying to avoid running over a dog!! two of these incidents(pothole and dog) were due to brake getting locked by sudden application and on both occasions the bike was just serviced and brakes were made a bit tight.
so my learning from these incidents would be not to lock the brakes especially when the vehicle has been serviced recently. It would take some time for the brakes to return to normal from being tight. Does anyone felt the same or there is something else I need to be looking at ?
Thankfully due to the gear I use(jacket, helmet, gloves) I was not much hurt(just some bruises to the knees) and the crash guard of the bike bore the maximum impact and damage. I got the visor, handle bar changed and the crash guard was not covered under insurance so I am going to buy and fix it myself.
Having seen many of the services outside, I am planning to service each and every part of the bike myself(have purchased the 'ABC of servicing and Maintaining Honda Unicorn') which will help me in maintaining my bike in the long run.
              will keep posting!!!

              cheers..

                Hey Kiran, welcome to xBhp.

Now about the above quoted part, many times when we do panic-braking, we forget to use the front and apply more of rear immediately. This causes the rear wheel to lock and the bike fishtails and boom. So keep your cool in these situation and try to use both brakes simultaneously. This way the bike would be stable and under your control. (This theory might be wrong, but more or less, it helps)

                Ride safe and have fun.
                Regards
                Nadeem

Hasnt that happened to us all. Scars are cooler tattos and you have a story to tell. Win-Win.

I believe this theory to be true...as a matter of fact I've been following the same approach after the incident of bike skid due to panic braking and I could feel the difference in stability already..so a valuable lesson learnt!!
