    My Baraat : Biker Style

How my wedding reception became a dream come true when my "baraat" (Wedding entourage) materialized as a thumping, roaring Harley motorcade ! Biker-to-the-core?? You bet!

This is my first post on xBhp! I would like to introduce myself through the following account of my life..

I got married to the girl I love (My Duke said she could put up with her ) on the 16th night of Nov 2013. My wedding reception was on the evening of the 21st. I had taken up the responsibility of planning the reception ceremony and had great plans for it. Some were plain preposterous, like the concept vehicles launched at auto shows, but if you do not dream big, you do not achieve big, right?!

    The Plans:

Well I wanted my "entry" at the reception venue to be a thing to be remembered for life! I wanted it to be different, innovative and totally kick-ass.

Here are the ideas I came up with:

    1. Enter the stage with my wife in a Lamborghini, with fireworks and smoke, and the intoxicating exhaust note of the Lambo sending me and the audience into an aural bliss. (OK that's insane, but the thought was just too orgasmic!)

** Well you guessed it right! It did not happen**

    2. Cut down on the budget a bit and drive in a stretch Limo from my place to the venue.

**Dropped this idea as no stretch Limos could be got in Pune**

    3. Drive to the venue in a cavalcade of stonking Harley Davidson beasts with me and my better half whizzing on a Night Rod special. Hu-haa-haa...

**Did this materialize?? Well hold your horses **

    4. I want to be different? Fine I will ride an elephant to the venue.

**My Wife freaked out, her parents freaked out and mine threatened to disown me as their offspring **

    5. Heck, If nothin works out, I will ride in on my Duke, pop a wheelie, get on the stage and celebrate!

**Everyone said i had to be with my wife and not my bike atleast on my wedding reception. I obliged.**

    So much for the ideas.

It was time to zero in on one and execute it. After a lot of jugaad, calls, begging, borrowing, stealing, pleading and what nots, The plan was finalised.

I was to arrive at the reception venue in a white BMW 5 series, flanked by FOUR berserk Harley Davidson Motorcycles.

Well my eyes swelled with tears and I hugged my father who made all this possible. A Harley Baraat for me!!

** I got high with happiness *sniff* *

    D-Day:

I was freaking out as the morning of 21st arrived. Waiting eagerly for my plan to come to life in the evening. Got ready real quick and sat by the balcony like a stupid kid waiting for the candywala. The BMW had arrived and was getting decorated below but I was hardly bothered. My mind was abuzz with the thought of seeing the HDs screaming their arrival into my humble housing society and setting the atmosphere on fire. The moment arrived. The gate opened and I was momentarily blinded by the gleam from the Harleys.

All four gracious souls turned out in their full glory to turn a kid's dream into reality( I was 23 , Yeah I married early, but that's another story )My parents had to hold me together in order to stop me from fainting and before they could know I was scampering down to meet these angels-in-disguise and their steeds.

Greeting me were a heavily customized Harley Davidson Fat Boy special smothered with flaming orange, tons of chrome and drop-dead gorgeous screaming eagle exhausts. This was clearly the big guy of the four and as i was informed, the loudest harley in India.

Next, was a shiny black and absolutely beautiful Road King that belonged to the owner of the newly opened HD showroom in Pune. I was swept off my feet seeing this marvellous machine and more so by the kindness of the owner who had himself agreed to ride with me with his personal prized HD.

Giving these two behemoths company were the sporty duos of the Nightster and the Iron 883. Man these looked SOLID!

After a plethora of thanksgiving and I-am-so-lucky remarks, I proceeded to my place in the BMW along with my wife.

The HDs positioned themselves in a two-front two-back formation. 2 more cars were added to this fleet as pilot cars and we were ready to rock!My mind-blowing "baraat" started its short but amazing journey. The moment the HDs fired up the entire neighbourhood took notice (whoever had still not noticed this) and stood there awestruck! I simply cannot describe people's reaction on seeing this marriage procession. Trust me when I say the grin on my face never faded that evening . We rolled off at our own leisurely pace via the buzzing camp area, MG road et al. The entire time people on mopeds, bikers, pedestrians etc were staring at the Harleys and peeking in the BMW wondering who this guy is!

Those 20 minutes made me feel like a celeb! Traffic came to a momentary halt from wherever we passed and people gave way to our motorcade.
The entire time I was glancing front and behind, blurting out childish words of excitement to see the HDs travelling along. We finally arrived at our destination. I had directed my pals to gather people at the entrance of the venue to witness this entourage in ts full glory.

And there they were, standing in a great line along the red carpet awaiting our arrival . On entering the venue, the four HDs gathered together and gave a long, exhilarating salute to the crowd by revving those V-twins crazy. The crowd ( me included) went ballistic and burst into a thundering applause!!

That night I walked the red carpet along with my wife and parents. With the air of a prince to the onlooker but in reality being a happy child who just got his biggest wish granted.

A big thanks to "Harley's angels"

    Yohan - Fat Boy special
    Sunil - Road King
Their pals on the sportsters (Sorry, I couldnt catch their names)
    You guys rock!!

That's one thundering procession. Happy married life once again.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END
