First of all its great to see that even at the ripe age of 41 you want to move forward on 2 wheels, whereas a normal Indian commuter here would prefer spending his rest of his life in a closed shell with 4 wheels and an engine in front (or at rear, if he has the money :P )
Few of my friends live in B'glore, I too have been there once and I can say that you need to come to Delhi once

Coming to the bike, as you have already polished your riding skills on P135, I would ask you to decide first what type of riding you would be doing. CBR is wonderful for highway touring, whereas KTMs are too much fun in city, given that your wife wont love to be pillion on either of two as both have very small pillion seat.

As mentioned above, do wait and see what Auto Expo has to offer us riders and then go for the bike that you want.
@Divya Sharan . w00t!! Black is nice.. Maybe lime-green for the rims and frame though.. oh oh.. that's the Asian in me coming out :-)

@prateek2210 I have visited Delhi before to visit my wife's nani. While it's not on been on a bike I've certainly been stuck in traffic a number of times :-). Also, apparently being the Damad gives me licence demand as many aloo parathas and muttons kebabs from my wife's Nani's staff. I love being married to an Indian. my waistline however does not.

I don't think the wife wants to brave the pillion seat just yet so the Duke 390 *MIGHT* be an option. However having said that, I'm at that wonderful stage where I'm still shopping about.

I DO want a bike that I can attempt to drive the Ulsoor to Whitefield route most of the week (wife wants the driver back) and sometimes take it on trips to Nani hills, Coorg (mmm pork) etc. I won't be braving Leh / Ladakh anytime soon (give me a few years) so it's really an all rounder I'm looking for. The reason I've looked closely at the CBR 250 is that most of the reviews say that it's certainly an all rounder, light enough to do traffic work BUT still powerful enough to do highway duty with a pillion. PLUS IN Australia, it's almost the defacto bike learners pick. I am partial to rice rockets but I blame genetics for that (I'm part chinese too).

Plus I am only 2 weeks into the lifestyle (AND still on my learners) so y'know be gentle .... ;-)

One other thing. Is there a consensus on the RIGHT hand signals to give? I can't seem to get a straight, yet alone consistent, answer from anyone around me. Is there a URL?

And again, if I haven't said so, thanks to all for being so friendly...
