Hi fellow bikers,
I am Dr. Vikram Dalvi from Goa. By profession, I am a critical care specialist. My hobbies include endurance cycling, stereo music, motorbike riding.
I am originally from Pune and have been on two wheels since age of 5 years. Now I am 38 years old. I like riding two wheels . I use four wheeler but Car use is strictly restricted to months of monsoon and when I am travelling with more than 1 family members.
I used Bajaj Sunny from age of 16-18. Then promoted to Bajaj Super. This was followed by Bajaj Caliber and then Caliber 110. Caliber 110 was with me for 12 years and I got bored.
in Dec 2013, i started searching for new bike. I had never thought of any other brand but this time I decided to give a try to TVS. I bought Apache RTR 160 hyperedgewith dual discs. It was a great entertainer. No issues with vibrations/engine performance/tyres/fuel economy/maintenance/riding posture/back or wrist pain. But it had one major issue. Rusting.
I used Caliber for 12 years and needed to change front, rear forks twice and the spokes once for rusting. RTR 160 rusted badly in 6 months! I stay close to sea shore but still this was too fast. The rust was at multiple places including frame, brake discs, forks etc. The company acknowledged the issue and though they took time for it, they replaced all parts under warranty. So I was happy with customer care.
Meanwhile I started feeling that I need more power. Again the search for new bike started. I considered all premium 150-220 cc bikes. After riding most of them and going to through reviews, (bikes included Gixxer SF, R15, CBR150r, Pulsar NS/AS 200, Karizma ZMR, Karizma R.), I came to conclusion that RTR 180 with ABS fits the bill perfectly for my use, had decent power and good safety features. Besides that owners have reported rusting on most of the bike brands available today in market
So, despite have issues with RTR 160 (rusting . Otherwise nothing else. The bike was great), I went with TVS again. Previous bike was peral white in colour.
This time I went with black colour. Got my bike yesterday

P.S. Friends, please tell me one thing. As the forum etiquette, whether Am I supposed to start a new ownership thread or add my experiences/snaps to already existing RTR 180 thread which has 1700+ pages.
