  • Hello XBhp!!!!

I am Hisham, Currently staying in Manipal. It has been just a couple of months since I started reading this thread. I never owned a Motorcycle. And due to various reasons, my dad thought I need a motorcycle. And then I started reading about it, about the ones that comes within my budjet, its reviews, specs etc. And through Google, I ended up in this website quite a few times, and I started reading the ownership experience of motorcycles here, which then led me to explore this site, and ended up reading the travelogues in this website. It became more of an hobby for me to read the travelogues here. It showed me how much of a passion people have over their motorcycle, showed me its more than just a commuter.

Through this site, I started learning a lot about the motorcycle( All I knew was the CC figure which was there on bike, higher cc meant higher bike. That was all i knew. )Being a medical student, i never knew how machines work. But this was a break, I gained a lot of theoretical knowledge about how of motorcycle works from practical experiences of a lot of people here, how it is different on roads than on paper, each motorcycle. And of course , I became aware of the safety precautions which we should take, realised it is way beyond just a helmet.

And one day, I happened to read the "Mangolia: Cycling in the land of wind and water" by a senior member The Monk which really inspired me, brought back all the memories I used to have riding long distances ( like some 10-15 kms and return for a 15 year old kid) in my bicycle then. It instilled in me the urge to have a ride and rest of the travelogues I read gave me the urge to own a motorcycle and ride hard and long and experience it myself.

So I am finally really proud to be a member of this great community and grateful to have instilled in me the long lost passion of riding.

And also, Is there any member from Manipal here?

        Yes indeed, A great community.

And about the research,I do not know if I should be asking this small doubt here or post it in what bikes sections. I am almost fixed on the new Honda Hornet, But I am a bit sceptical about it having few qualities issues which it may possess as many other bikes in the initial batches which is rectified in later batches of production( such as the rusting of brake disc in gixxer). That is the only thing I am doubtful about it at the moment( yes, I hope i can live without engine kill switch and AC wiring). Should I go with the reliability of Honda or go with Gixxer as I am not in a position to wait any longer for my first bike.

And Your travelogue should have inspired many people like me and instilled the urge and desire to travel.
