  • Hello motoring enthusiasts

Hey guys, Myself Prathamesh Giramkar from Pune, MH. Engineering student,
It's really fascinating to be a part of like minded fellas on such a large platform, I always wished for a sensible and true blue outcast to express and share experiences.
Not only this but also increase your database from other's knowledge

Speaking of machines my family has owned almost all generations of Bajaj, M80, Chetak, Caliber 115, Discover 125, Pulsar 180, Pulsar RS200(which I own).

I'm a bajaj fan?, not exactly, my dad has always been baised for them, because he thinks they make sense in the terms of low cost ownership, keeping that aside, Affordable performance biking and Distinctly ahead, are quite relatable.

I recently got exposure to motorcycling community in my city, as far as I've noticed, there are stunters, lavasa corner lappers/lovers, then there are bunch of elite superbike owners, how can i forget the royal people, out of these categories I prefer touring.

Why Pulsar RS200? Ok so I learned to ride on a discover 125 (2007), so i being 6'1" the commuter seating felt a bit out of place for my height, but that bike served well without any hassle or fuss for years, it also survived a large tree on it with a coin size dent on the tank and broken visor. Speaking of reliability my neighbour who's honda shine didn't start on first press of the starter without choke, whereas this old lady had no problem as such on cold start. My friend with the unicorn had same cold start problem
It was very economical and heavy comparing it with the competitors in it's category. Leaving the ergonomic part, I had no problem with the discover. But then ergonomics are so damm important.
The big question was, what shall I buy
Meanwhile there were Rumors of the first fullyfaired product with a FI on the ns200 platform after the semi faired pulsar 220 by bajaj
So i had visited the Autoexpo and there bajaj shocked the segment with the Pulsar 400cc twins, 400cs & 400ss.
Well jumping from a pony 125cc commuter to a 375cc would have been too much for me 200cc was ideal , but why am I dreaming already. So i started the hunt finally, budget constrain being 1-1.5L reading numerous forums, 150-200cc wasn't that hot. I mean there were hardly any interesting bits.
Starting from honda' engine butter smooth, and reliable as f, but Honda trigger and cbr150r( a good sports tourer but over priced i mean that price tag for 150cc engine ) were the only option.
Yamaha had Fz and R15, R15 was out of question being track focused. Fz was good but then a street fighter-ish commuter? Not again And fazer wasn't my cup of tea. fairings are important for highways though .
So coming to Suzuki Gixxer was newly launched and went for a test ride, so in the showroom the lady was like "sir we can't provide you a test ride, the bike's clutch lever is broken" such a downer from a huge and reputed Japanese brand.
Royal Enfield wasn't a big fan.
Hero's were out of questions, but I had a thing for Karizma R the older one, but hero discontinued it.
KTM duke200, my friend had bought it recently, was already a fan, but then ergonomics pricked in, I had problem with the knee recesses, though the seating was upright, it was painful because of the tank shape, even if I sit a bit forward it was a problem for me. The pillion seat was next to useless. Other than ergonomics, I needed a linear power delivery, So all and all, I wasn't ready to race.
Bajaj pulsar 220 was good but this time the fairing and knee problem.
Pulsar200ns ticked the right boxes for me, it was tall, upright and all the typical bajaj mumbo-jumbo. But then people had issues with the carb diaphragm, coolant leaks, a bit viby midrange, and tappets had to be set offen as far as people said and then bajaj isn't that good at fit and finish , but still overcoming whatever I've heard and read i decided to buy 200ns. Somewhere still had the feeling that what if they launch it with fairing, abs and fuel injection.
Just 15 days after i decided to enquire for Ns200, the spy pictures of the faired bike started flying over the Internet (i did like the looks of the ns200)
Frankly RS200 was overhyped on the Internet.
Just seeing spypic before the launch there was a misty confirmation of ABS.
I was so excited about the bike I saw the whole launch event on 2G Internet connection #desperate,
So the prices were quite reasonable for what you were getting. I mean ABS and FI bosch unit , projectors headlamp and fairing for 30k over the NS200 being said RS200 was the Ns200 with sharper rake angle 1 bhp more, longer swing arm and Orings chain , a street fighter with a fairing, interesting
So i waiting periods were 1 month first time in bajaj history after chetak I'd say.
I booked it on 2nd may, was expecting it on 2nd of June on my birthday, the showroom called me on 2nd June and said the bike has some flaws and that piece couldn't be delivered, so finally on 9th of June I got it. I'm very much satisfied with her. And the ABS though being single channel is useful enough, i mean it's not that controversial, apart from the rear wheel lock up and the tail going places, will write a detailed review to the RS200 link

    Thankyou petrolheads
