My name is Manish Nair, and this is my (hi)story.
As a non-resident Keralite born and brought up in the industrial city of Hisar in Haryana, I am pretty much proficient in Haryanvi, Punjabi and Malayali dialect. My fascination with the two-wheelers started at an early age. Since my dad was in the army, I've had the honour to ride the Jongas and the Shaktiman trucks, but it was always the RE Bullet that would fascinate me. I used to climb on it and since my legs wouldn't reach the ground, I used to sit on it with the olive green helmet on and would imagine riding it, by wringing the throttle open and making the thumping sound with my mouth, and I'd made my mind back then that this would be the first bike I would learn to ride when I grow up. Well, that wasn't to be, my dad retired from the army when I was 9 and I was back to the civilian life away from the cantonment. My dad bought a Scooter (an LML Vespa NV 150), which was disappointing to me as I'd always thought he would buy a Bullet, but I guess he did it since it was easy to take a family of four (me, younger sis, mom and dad) on a ride on a scooter. My dad had taught me how to ride a bicycle in a single day, after that there was no looking back. I rode a scooter by myself when I was 14, the first bike I rode was a Hero Honda CD100 SS borrowed from a friend when I was 15. I couldn't ride the 2-wheelers legally, hence I begged my dad for a license, but being a strictly rule-obeying citizen that he is, didn't apply for my learner's license until I was 17 and a 1/2 and then the regular driving license when I was 18. Meanwhile I had ridden the Yamaha RX 100 (again borrowed from a friend) and almost did a wheelie on my first attempt. My fascination with Jap 2-strokers grew and I was amazed by the power that these machines could produce. I was not averse to drive a Car, but the thrill of riding a two-wheeler at 110 kmph with the wind opposing you with full force and your eyes squinted and oozing with tears and hair standing on its end is unmatched and unparalleled, it's almost akin to having an orgasm!
None of my friends had an RD 350, a Suzuki Shogun or a Shaolin and hence I've not been fortunate enough to ride these (anyone here in NCR has one of these babies, give me a call and I would be grateful that you'd help me realize my fantasies). The stricter law emissions meant that these bikes would not be produced any further. But I was lucky enough to get a Suzuki Max 100 when my dad bought it in 2002 for himself and I used to ride it to college sometimes along with my scooter. In 2006, I came to Noida for a job, got one. My dad lent the scooter to my maternal uncle (married with 2 kids, again makes a family of four), bought a brand new TVS Star City for me for daily commuting in Noida, but I was in love with my Max 100 and the sound of its exhaust, hence borrowed it from him and asked him to keep the Star City and after clocking nearly 52000 kms (majority of it by my Dad) the Max 100 is still with me and I won't sell it for anything. As far as the RE Bullet is concerned, my dad and I still have arguments about the pros and cons of owning one
Thanks for going through my history. I appreciate your patience.

P.S : The Max 100 that I have, might have been the last of the lot made by TVS and they might have tweaked with the power and certain other things (e.g. tyre size) to comply with the emission norms and better fuel efficiency. My bike produces 7.8 BHP (googled it) and I've noticed the tyre size on front is 2.50" X 18" instead of 2.75" X 18" and the rear one is 2.75" X 18" instead of 3.00" X 18". Suggestions are invited.
