  • Pratap || HH Karizma || Mad about Offroad || Solo...Mostly ||

    Hi Guys,

Pratap here, I've been a member a long time and was active in the previous decade...drifted away but am back now. I remember a time when debates used to involve dyno readings and math were a part of an argument between mechanics on the forum. Two strokes occupied most of the threads (Fun times) Then it revamped and I quit.

I ride a 2005 HH Karizma which I traded in for a 2006 Karizma...This is my third Karizma and fourth bike overall.
I love riding offroad .. tougher the terrain, the more fun I have... My practice (and Proving) grounds have been the hills of Tungareshwar near where I live i.e. Vasai.

My bikes have always been heavily modified - all based on adventure bikes .. suspension, lights, etc.. all modded way beyond what stock can deliver by One Neryosang Mistry in Vasai. I've yet to come across anyone with more insight to mechanical engineering. In fact seen quite a few big names in the "Mechanic/Modding/Servicing " business drop by (or call on him) when they couldn't figure out an issue with a motorcycle - usually an exotic. No names, its all in the past now. This was of course before you could google stuff for an answer and find a tutorial on youtube.
I give credit where its due and if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be alive for the way I rode. Still learning though... Motorcycling and Philosophy..very seldom do you meet someone who can teach you both.

    Rides - Vasai - Rishikesh - Mussoorie - Vasai in 2010
    A lotta other smaller rides...
Then Vasai - Manali (Solang Valley) - Vasai 4000 kms in 7 days in 2016

Am shifting base to Chandigarh soon in couple of months...The Mountains are indeed calling... Hoping to pile on some massive miles there too and explore the region.
Yes I will be riding my bike there, no train or truck for me...plus its cheaper .

                  Thank you brother,
Here's a list of mods, some of them go way back..

Front Suspension - Tuned - Extended - Springs changed. Travel about 6-7 inches
Rear Suspension - Calculated - Unicorn Monoshock fitted. Travel about 7-8 inches
Headlights - Upgraded through some very special wiring, able to draw full 8.3A for a 100/90w bulb
Handle - Impulse handlebar retrofitted with raisers, Handguards - HH Impulse, with custom built brackets
Tires - Had a Michelin T63 on special order, no longer, swapped to a Michelin Sirac front/rear - Very good in all conditions.
Battery - Upgraded to 9Ah - Sadly my old Bosch(Dry) gave out after 5 years switched to Amaron crap. Ok but the leads seem problematic after a while. Keep bending/breaking.
Footpegs - custom built (not in pics) positioned for better ergonomics
Gear shift Lever - Custom built - to eliminate the losses from linkages
Rear brake lever - custom built to remove dependency on the casting portions which have a tendency of breaking quite often.

I think thats about it...There's still some work pending , awaiting a chassis repaint and epoxy, some minor engine head work etc..

                  Cheers!

Thanks brother, yup monoshock for about the past 7 years now. Nope the knuckleguards never touch the fairing even at full lock.

Thanks brother, will do. I used to run a Michelin T63, now I have switched over to the Sirac, because the T63 is not commercially available and my rear suspension kept taking a beating due to the knobblies.

I was an young upstart who prided on being King of the Road, (like all 20 year olds I presume), Thankfully I found wonderful company with experts who beat to my knees and invited me to take on offroad as a practice to control the bike better in any situation... Been doing it ever since.

                  Cheers all,
