Re: Heavy future-modder here!
Hey, This is my first bike. Have 2 cars in the family, Optra 1.8 & Santro namely. Bought it smokey af, did the bore and piston swap and other small things. It rides good now, small problems here and there but great otherwise. Smokes newer bikes easy, am thinking its the motoman break-in thing i did with it, in my own little way. Total cost, 25k lol. Good deal?
wanna do a upgrade to it in december, will post about that in a new thread.
P.S, Does the 2006 150 do 110 at 9k rpm and 5th gear?

Re: Heavy future-modder here!
just visit your local junkyard get hold of a 220 engine from a scrapped bike and do an engine swap on your 150 cheap, clean and simple, and please forget about turbocharging its easier said than doneOriginally posted by Chaitanya Soni View PostHey guys, having some delay in getting a long ass post of mine approved. Ok I am no expert. But reading your post at a high level brings me to 2 questions:Originally posted by Chaitanya Soni View PostHey guys, having some delay in getting a long ass post of mine approved. How long does it typically take for it to be approved and posted? It's in the help me section.

1) Will it be a project bike? If Yes, then you can think of this stuff.
2) Will it be your daily ride? No. The modifications scene in India for these bikes is not that professional. You will end up spending a lot in terms of efforts and time and would not get the desired results unless you are an engineer yourself and knows engine in and out. I saw you mentioned 25 WHP from a pulsar 150? In my humble opinion this number is not possible without turbo charging and honestly there are no turbos available for small 150cc engines. Even if you end up finding one, tuning it and making sure your cylinder takes the torque is science in itself.
Sorry if I sound demotivating, but if it your primary vehicle keep it stock and reliable. Save, buy a new bike.
If it is project bike and you want to learn, then ofcourse Yes.
Best wishes

Re: Heavy future-modder here!
Hey, appreciate your views people.
Swapping from a scrapped 220, is it a bolt on job? If not, which other engines can i use? its tempting to think about 2 cylinder bikes like RE or even a junked up r15(which will make my job of doing the turbo easier as the ecu measures the AF and adjusts the amount of gas sprayed into the cyl.)
Also looking at a new breed of turbos which use electricity to spool up (Makeshift superchargers) and provide the desirable boost whenever needed.
Turbo on carb is easier said than done, because the boost pressure isnt consistant inside the carb, due to difference in pressure of various air streams entering the venturi, which fks up the AFR. One way around this is to enclose the carb in a air tight box and indirectly hookup the boosted line, which then gets diffused and more or less equalizes the pressure of air going in the venturi. Well while i want to do it, Its gonna be in the not so near future when i know a little bit more about the engine and possible find a forged piston/crank/connRod and better valve springs for it.
Random idea, Newer cars are using direct gasoline injection. can we indian bike owners sacrifice one spark plug for a injector? need some well reasoned opinions on it. Pulsar 220fi tried throttle body injection and failed as it didnt include a MAF or o2 sensor and just injected by "jugaad" (read: (broken)open loop EFi).

Re: Heavy future-modder here!
You mentioned 2 Cylinder bikes and then you said RE or R15. R15 is definitely a single cylinder. And any 2 Cyl RE you are bound to find will be too old to salvage and run or then just blasphemous to mount on a smaller frame (will play badly with the CG).Originally posted by Chaitanya Soni View PostHey, appreciate your views people.

That being said, a reliable 220 class engine would be that of a karizma. I have heard people plonking it into other bikes so there's gonna be inforamtion about such a build out there.
Get this stage right. Refine it, let it Blend. Then make plans about a turbo. A steady smooth bike will set an example for future builds.

I reckon it was more than a 'jugaad' and failed due to other issues, most prominently starting issues and the pump going kaput. Also, the later launched carbed version made more power, was reliable and cheaper in the long run.Originally posted by Chaitanya Soni View PostPulsar 220fi tried throttle body injection and failed as it didnt include a MAF or o2 sensor and just injected by "jugaad" (read: (broken)open loop EFi).Got a $5 head? Okey doke on the english one.
Yes i understand that re's and the r15's are single cyl. i dont like the re's long stroke engine, need a short stroker.\
I'm thinking about plonking in a used, bored and shortened(more compression?) 200 block kit, with the new 4v head if its compatible, "let me" know if it is
.
The 220 Fi had a fixed Fi map which just spited out fuel based on rpm and not on the flow of air through the manifold. And yes, I, too, have seen some posts about fuel pump failures.
