Thank you for the space given to me to share my experiences fellow xBhp members. I'm sorry I did not reply earlier. I just did not notice the notifications. I'm new to forums but not to bikes.
I am from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. I am not connected with with anything that screams engineering by profession but that does not stop me from learning up all I can about bikes and cars. The time thus spent has paid rich dividends. I do most of the work my bikes require without the assistance of a mechanic. Most of my friends realise that I give good advice when it comes to bikes. I have great interest in bikes and so I know quite a lot about all the bikes released in the Indian market almost from the sixties when I was born.
I'm therefore happy to be in the midst of like minded people here. Thank you xBhp for letting me into your discussions.
Started to ride bikes on my first two wheeler, a Bajaj Super I bought second hand from my friend. Fell madly in love with that scooter but was scared to open her up for maintenance work since it was the only means of transportation for the family in a hilly region.
Around this time a friend came along to help. We spent a lot of time taking the scooter apart to get the most out of it. The effort did not go wasted. When I had to leave those parts I sold the scooter for more than what I bought it!
Then I got myself a TVS Victor. That was my first bike. Much of the work my friend had done on the scooter had rubbed off on me and I had a very satisfying time keeping the bike in top shape. It served me many years before I exchanged it for a Honda Aviator which I still have and use as my daily driver. I take it apart every time I wash it to check its condition and to make adjustments. I usually get information about the vehicle from books and YouTube on whatever I need to know in this regard.
I chose an Activa i for my daughter who graduated to a car leaving an almost brand new scooter in my hands. I use it for long distances within the city.
There is not a single bike that I have seen or laid my hands on that I do not like.
I'm always found in the all discussions connected with bikes. Thank you once again.
