  • My Classic Bikes : Introduction

    Hi all,
I am a new comer here. My name is Sathish and is (past 60 now) vintage stuff as my bikes. I am from Kerala and settled in Bangalore. I have 2 british bikes. One is a Sunbeam S8 (1950) & the other a BSA A50 (1963). I had been earning my bread in the middle east and ride the bikes only occassionally. In 1985 I rode a RD 350 belonging to my friend and decided to by one. My wife was dead against the idea but agreed to getting vintage/classic bike and restoring it. As a result I bought the Sunbeam for a sum of Rs.4000-00 ( a basket case ) and rejecting a Matchless 500cc in running condition from one Mr Ganesh Rao . It took me about 3 years to get it in running condition as lots of parts were missing and had to source them from UK. In 1987 I came across the BSA A50 and bought it as well. The only work done on this bike is replacing the clutch cable and the carb ( not original but a Mikarb).
Both the bikes are in running condition and used occassionally. Thinking of doing a complete overhall of both the bikes. Valuable advice from the forum is much appreciated. Will post the progress once I start the work. By the way, I carry out the restoration of the Sunbeam without help from any mechanics and still carry out the maintenance myself. I will upload the photos once I figure out how to do it.
    Sathish.

    Introduction Approved.

Hello sir, welcome to xBhp. At 60+ years of age, you are perhaps one of the most senior most members to grace us with your presence here. We would absolutely love to see your 'classic' collection, if only you could be kind enough to share a few pictures with us, here in this thread.

Once again, welcome to the biker's haven. We hope you have a wonderful time here.
    :)

Thanks for the welcome. I have uploaded a few pictures in an album. I am not sure where they are in the forum. I am still trying to get the hang of uploading pictures. Is it possible to cut & paste pictures in these messages?
      Regards,

oh man... that Sunbeam looks like one hell of a bike even today and I cannot imagine what it could have been for its days of glory...

Going by how the exhaust looks, it should be firing missiles (that kind of sound) when revved.

I think I got it right this time.

                              PS.
I know. All non-original items were removed soon after the pictures were taken after some learned friends adviced to keep the bike as original as possible. But still stuck with the Bullet Tail Lamp. Would appreciate advice comments etc. Will post more details as i move along.

                              Thanks again
