    Hi All,

This is Ashwin from Madras. I booked the BMW GS 310 today. This is my first bike after a gap of about 11 years I wanted something that's very comfortable and after much research, I decided to get this one. I couldn't try the bike as it hasn't launched yet but I am hoping that BMW and brand GS will deliver me what I am looking for.

The BMW guys told me that the bike will be officially launched in the month of July and deliveries will happen in the month of August. 3 colors and pricing in the 3.5 to 3.7 lakhs bandwidth on road, Chennai. Hope it ends up on the lower side.

    Can't wait!

Wow! so you are official the first BMW GS310 owner on xBhp (or at least someone who has booked it). Will be looking for an ownership experience thread from you when you finally get the delivery.

Brace yourself, a lot of queries will be coming your way. Congratulations for booking it and thanks for sharing the information with us. If you allow, could we please post your thread link on xBhp social media channels like FB and twitter?

Congrats Ashwin! Could you please upload the document which they might have provided when the motorbike was booked? I was quoted an amount of 50k for the booking. Since I am not sure if I am going to pick GS or R, they told me that they will consider 25k each as the token money and will book both the bikes on my behalf. I will head down to the dealership tomorrow! Let’s see

It was a form that they asked me to fill. I filled it up and cut them a cheque. I got a message from them requesting me to submit my aadhar and pan card copies. Once I do that, I am guessing they will send me a receipt via mail.

        Yup, I did pay 50k.

I am also interested in the G310GS, so did you ask them about the aftersales, on how they are going to handle servicing and parts? I hope they keep the same price of spares as the Apache 310rr.

Not yet. But I'm sure they will have everything in place when it launches. This is going to be a big bet for BMW in India . I am certain ze Germans will ensure that after sales service will be of a certain acceptable standard.
I would not worry about the parts though - it's made in India and that should provide a huge comfort for people investing in this bike as against ckd or cbu where you will need to wait for things to come from overseas

Congratulations Ashwin. Happy beemer riding soon! I'm positive they will start handover in Aug this year.

                  You chose GS

                  1. You tour a lot?
                  2. Styling
                  3. GS could withstand better in our road conditions?

To me it would be the 3rd reason to go for GS, I know preference, taste differs. Just wanted to know, thx

                    Hey ,
Not for any of the three above. I was looking at a very comfortable and stable bike. I don't intend to cross 70 km/hr on the speedometer.

I ride cycles and I own a titanium bike.Titanium offers what you call a magic carpet ride. The comfort you get when you ride a titanium frame is beyond what words can describe.

I was looking at the motorised equivalent of a magic carpet ride . I tired RE and I really liked the ride quality it offered. But i was absolutely sure that I wanted a bike with abs on it. That was a bit of bummer for me as none of the classics have abs on them yet. They will have them by 2019 but 2019 is still a good year away.

I tried the versys 650 and i was blown away by it. It was exactly what I was looking for but at 7.5 lakhs on road, it was like an earth mover for my garden shovel needs. Bear in mind, this is my first bike if you discount the karizma I owned 11 years back .

I then found out about the versys 300. I was an hour away from booking it but a good friend of mine told me to have a look at the GS 310 and asked me to find out more about it. He also said that versys 300 was ridiculously overpriced for what it offered.

Since the GS 310 was yet to be launched in India, I read every review I could find on the net. At the end of it all, I was somewhat convinced that this is what I was looking for.

I called up kun motorrad and I made them promise me that they would call me as soon as bookings started. When it did, I booked it immediately. I was the first one in Chennai to do so - cheap thrills

                    That's my story

Wow, that's great Ashwin. Since there are two types i was wondering what are the basis for choosing the GS (GS310R) against naked (G310R) mode. I'm waiting for the launch and holding on for almost a year now.

You are lucky Ashwin, i have been calling BMW KUN Motorrad in Chennai from April this year. Twice they picked, first time they were responsive and promised to intimate once bookings are open but after that no call backs rather i will just get SMS that i will get a call back whenever i tried reaching. Today when i called they were not even interested to hear, i was wondering if i had call somewhere wrongly and asked them but yeah i have reached BMW motorrad but they didn't even ask why i called rather they just asked my name, number and said i will get a call back. I wonder if the person attended the call did even note my number, so lethargic

Aaah shucks! My experience was different. The folks over there were very responsive. Toni, the person I met there was super helpful.

Why don't you head over to the showroom and check it out? It may be easier that way.

I believe TVS is manufacturing BMW GS 310 locally.. If so 3.5 Lacs is crazy pricing.. Hope it is around the same price (or) lil more than Honda CBR250R..

G310R comes with three color variants --> Pearl White, Cosmic Black and Red. There is no Strato blue metallic for Indian market. That's a downside as Strato blue looks dazzling.
