  • Hi, brothers and sisters

I am Aamod Rajendran from Kerala, 21 years old. I own a Suzuki Gixxer SF FI ABS, which I bought on August 20th this year. This is my first bike. I like to go on long rides with my friends as soon as the break in period is over (1600 km as the manual says). My dream bikes include the Busa, Kawasaki Vulcan S, Ninja 650, S1000RR and Triumph Rocket 3 Roadster.

I'm a great fan of Suzuki. My craze for bikes started after seeing a Busa when I was about 5 years old. It's my dream bike since then.

When I bought mu bike, I had to compare between some of the best bikes in my budget (₹1,25,000). They where Ns 200, Apache RTR 2004V, the Hornet and of course Gixxer SF. I had ridden all of these bikes before and my heart was already with Gixxer. Of course the 200s are more powerful but still Gixxer had a special place in my mind... So, I proposed her...

I hadn't faced any issues with my bike so far. It's pretty powerful and sometimes I lack a 6th gear. But it's okay. I hadn't checked the mileage but I'm sure I'm getting above 50kmpl. The seating position is very comfortable. My mother, brother and friends said the pillion seat is okay (not sure about long rides). The exhaust note is great.

There are a fewthings that would've been better about my bike. 1) The angle of the side stand. The bike is almost upright while on the side stand. A gentle push is enough to make it fall. 2) The tyres have good grip on tarred roads but on village roads, I found they (especially the front) tend to slip on fixed stones. 3) The exhaust tip is too close to the pillion footrest. The pillion's foot may scrape the aluminium tip and make it look bad over time. 4) It's a bit difficult to take the money from my purse while holding the fuel tank cap. I wish if it was a hinge type.

But these problems are manageable. I know I own a great bike. Knowing what it can do in the current level of tuning, I wonder what would've been the result if Suzuki tuned the Gixxer's engine the way they tuned the HSXR 150... I'm pretty sure even 200cc bike won't stand a chance against it if they do so.

    Welcome to the family Aamod.
And we must agree that the Gixxer is indeed a gem.

A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Good looking and seems blue and plain red are best colors !!

Why didn't you opted for ABS ? How much is the price hike than normal one?
