  • Death wish list

Hello guys. I am from Thane and I am 27. I have driven cars but have always feared motorcycle (even though I always loved its level of engagement). Sad part is that, I have been detected with some medical condition (avoiding details consciously) which puts me a window of several years ahead only to live. The moment I got this news, only that popped in my mind was to learn bike and ride as much as I could till last breath.

Can anyone help me here to get to learn motorcycle? I am planning to buy KTM 125 or RTR 200 ABS.

    Please need guidance....

    Hi,

I so wish that you are joking and not serious about this medical condition that you mentioned you have!

But irrespective of that, I also wish that all of us follow our heart and do things that really make us happy. And we do it till our last breath, no matter how big or small or life is.

Your positiviity and your attitude towards life in spite of your cicumstances is awe-inspiring and I'll pray that you get to do things that you really really want to do.

Coming to your question, please let us know if you've ever ridden a motorized two-wheeler, like a gearless scooter or a moped, or if you know how to ride a bicycle because these are very basics of motorcycle riding and will be your stepping stone. If your answer is yes to above, then the road ahead should be relatively very ease for you. All you will need then is to master the art of using clutch and gear, which is not a big deal to begin with. Unfortunately, we don't have two-wheeler rider training school in our country (at least none that I know of) and you'll have to rely on friends/family members to teach you that. Just make sure you have basic safety gear (helmet, knee guards, elbow guards, gloves etc. ) before you start learning. It will give you more confidence.

The bikes you've shortlisted are very good ones and should give you full value for money, though KTM 125 is a new bike and I've not ridden it, so i won't have much of an opinion on that.

Do keep us posted of your progress.

    Good luck!

Like Sunilg said, we wish you a good health. Like your current state of mind, I too thought 'life is short' recently when upgrading from my daily commuter Honda Shine to 150-180 cc bikes and finally thought, what the heck and got P220.

Most of the process has been explained by Sunilg in his post. So, get the safety gear and RTR200 is a good choice. Please share if you have prior experience with 2 wheelers or bicycle. And if you could share requirements, we could help you better to finalise a bike.

God bless and happy mile munching to you.

I have ridden moped (dio Honda once). I know bicycle and have used to ride bicycle for like 15yrs of my life. I also once rode p200 (old oil cooled model)
Are you saying that I could just go ahead and buy the bike?
Cause I spoke with TVs and KTM dealers they both told they can't help in riding but I could buy the bike right away without the license.....
Let me know the best bike and gears to buy.
I am thinking of rtr200 cause I think I could invest in gears by saving a good 20k by not going with KTM.

            Re: Death wish list

Hi PK - Really sad to read what you said in the first post, and I hope that 'several years' become 'several decades' for you.
All of us, have one life, short or long is just a state of mind, to me! Some people live on for 90 years and have done nothing or loved no one that they wished to, and some people compress larger than life experiences in a few short years. So, it's not about how long you live, but what you do with it. And this is why I bow to your spirit Dude!

Coming to your question, I would say that the RTR 200 is a good choice, but make sure that your local TVS dealer is supportive (my experiences here weren't good). The other option I would suggest is to find yourself a pre-loved CBR250 ABS. You already know how to ride, so don't worry too much. Just take it easy for the first few weeks, until you get a hang of the controls and dynamics of whatever you buy, and then enjoy it the way you intend to.

            All the best!

              Hi pk ,

Am so sad to hear that you're ill, anyhow I appreciate your passion towards motor-biking. Don't get frustrated at any point!!!

we don't know what life brings to us,At anytime anything will happen.
As all mentioning ; life is short, yeah that's the bitter truth.

Only our life is filled with memories and definitely biking will give us a sweet, unforgettable memories.

As you've said earlier that you're a beginner in riding.
1.Just get DL asap from a reputed driving school.
2.Rent any bikes/ use any friends bikes (ask them to teach you driving)
3.As you are a veteran in car driving you won't find it tough to learn !!!
4.Riding gears are important and a good quality products are wothy a life saver.
(buy a helmet ,jacket , riding gloves and shoes)

*Atleast a helmet is mandatory(5K-10K Rs)

              Newbie:

As KTMs are meant for instant speed and acceleration ,you can just opt for the Apache (with abs) it's a worthy , capable machine .

              WHY BIKES ? NOT CARS??

As cars offer immese pleasure and comfort, noone gonna deny this fact indeed.

But the inner feel we get while riding around Twisties, corners, tours aren't given by the cars !!!!

              A Comeback ....
I too was seriously affected (many issues) and bed ridden for almost a year and Never had thought that I would own an Apache (160 4v) as of today. Though I was curious and passionate towards riding ,it happens.

Take care of your health and I too be one among the many well wishers here.
              God bless...

              Ride safe ,

Guys help me on a thing please. I met this guy who is willing to sell his 310 apache at 1.7. he had admitted to me when I went to checkout his bike, that he bought it just to look macho and cool rider. As he owns car and Enfield too he now thinks it was mistake.
The bike is 800km ran and bought in last Aug 18.
Can you awesome riders let me know if I could start my life's short riding story with a 300cc engine right away?
                Please reply fast....

Yes, you can it has linear power delivery, just practice riding . It'll give you maximum happiness . Just check the bike in TVS svc before buying. In the mean time learn sone basic maintenance stuff like chain lubing, cleaning etc. Good luck [emoji4][emoji93][emoji93]
