I was born Dehradoon and spent 20 glorious years of my life there before moving to Delhi for work and now I am working in Bangalore.
I have always been in love with bikes and in my younger days my room used to be adorned with posters of bikes. I used to love cycles too and owned most as soon as they got launched.Got the Atlas Concorde the day it was available in dehradoon and it was heaven
It had both free and fix wheels and you just had to take the rear tyre out and change sides depending on your mood, the black tape covered handle bar (which kids then used to call buffalo horns
)Then got a Hero Ranger for Rs 745 if I am not mistaken and spent the same amount on 5 gears from Sunrace. Gears wernt available on it when it was just launched a looong time back.
Got introduced to the power of 2 stroke on my dad's Bajaj Chetak, then got my first 2 wheeler a Hero Puch in 1989. Oh what fun it was, wheelies at the drop of a hat, could take 3 guys to Mussoorie without a hitch. Used to fill Rs 10 worth of petrol (.6 liters) and roam around the entire town for 2 days before I needed a refill. Then graduated to a Hero Honda Splendor (Dad refused to buy a Shogun or the RX) but most of my friends had those bikes so used to keep exchanging them for a few days.
Then it happened, went to the 2nd Auto expo in 1998 and saw the Kawasaki Ninja zzr 250.
It was love at first sight.Managed to get a one page brochure with the pic on one side and the specs on the other. They then said that it would be launched within a year and would cost about 1.5-2l.
Each day after that was spent waiting for it to be launched. I never bought another bike because I was afraid that as soon as I buy one they would launch the ninja and I would not have the money.
Well, am still waiting
Just cant get myself to buy anything else buy as the hair are greying the hopes are fading, hope it gets launched before I need to buy a ladder to get on it
.WHew, that was a loooong intro wasnt it? Sorry to bore u guys.
I leave you with a couple of my favourite quotes :
What do you call a cyclist who doesn't wear a helmet? An organ donor. ~David Perry
Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window

Keep riding, wear your helmets and safety gear and be safe.
Cheers
Samarth
