Hi people, this is Bala(also known as Vasanth). I joined this forum several months back. Though I haven't introduced myself yet. So here it starts.
I'm based at Chennai. I was never into biking until 2012. That's when I thought about buying myself a bike. For me bike is just not only for commute. I was crazy about RE Thunderbird, mainly because of the looks. Moreover that's one of the few bikes that suits my height. (I'm 6'2").
But the wait time was too long back then. I was not ready to wait for 6 or more months. So I considered Avenger 220. Everyone who knows me came with a question if I can handle that bike. Cause until that time I've never ridden any bike above 100 cc. Not even 110 cc. Even I was little worried about the bike. But still I booked the bike. Didn't even took any test ride. The very first time I rode a bigger cc bike was the day I took delivery of my own bike.
Since then, I did very few rides. Just some local rides of about 300 to 500kms at the max. My Avenger is still in my possession. The craziness about riding really started when I upgraded to Dominar 400 last year.
Back in 2016 I decided to sell my Avy and upgrade to even bigger bike. That's when I heard gixxer 250 rumours. Waited for some time. But no sign of gixxer. So I starred looking out for other bikes. One year later, in 2017 I tried Dominar. Really impressed with the power, ride comfort and everything. But 1.7lacs was a big money for me. So had to drop that idea at that time.
Later I considered thunderbird 500. By hard some issues about its reliability. Then comes the himalayan. Took test ride. Really impressed about its performance and height and everything, except the cost.
In the mean time I somehow convinced my parents to buy a bigger bike and made them understand about the budget. Compared himalayan with new and improved Dominar 2018. Fixed my mind towards Dominar. One of the reason would be my friend who bought Dominar in its first batch.
After about a year, took test ride one more time. Also wanted to check all the available colors to decide before making purchase. The showroom nearby my home says they have just one color ready with them. I asked for a demo vehicle from any other branch or from the service. They said not possible.
The available colors at that time was Glacier blue, Canyon Red and matte Black. I myself rejected black. Saw the red in showroom. Also wanted to see the blue before I finalise my bike. And the showroom people said I've to book the vehicle only then they can get the blue. Else they showed the blue color on the website. (technology :-P)
I went to other showroom, little far away from home. But they had a bunch of blue bikes ready for purchase. I liked the blue very much. Booked and paid the initial. I was promised the delivery would happen by next Monday. (4 days from the date of booking). But then in next 2 days I got a call from showroom. Said the bike is ready for delivery. I was overwhelmed and took delivery immediately.
Since then I've done a few short and long rides. Group and solo rides. This bikes really amazes me everyday. Making my every single ride enjoyable. Not even once it disappointed me. I've taken it to Goa, Kodaikanal, Trichy, Thanjavur. And few other places. In every ride, every terrain, any climatic condition, I enjoyed the ride. A proud and happy owner of Dominar. Hoping to get many such memorable moments with the bike.
