Welcome to India, you have chosen a very scenic road and you will definitely enjoy the trip, just be careful about the truck traffic until mangalore/goa and numerous diversions due to construction activity. What bike have you selected for this ride and are you riding alone or with group?

Hi Sparky,
hi Avenger88,

i am traveling alone. I want to buy a Royal Enfield for the trip. Right now i am not sure which model would fit the best for a tall guy. 186cm
I am thinking about a classic 500 cc. Where could i get some upgrades for my bike like metal steel construction for extra luggage.
Do you think any adjustment to the bike is necessary like changing shock absorber or smth?

For the route i have only the starting point at Kochi, then a meditation temple at Ahmedabad and then a Wedding in Rajastan befor leaving from Nem Dehli.
Any recommendations are very welcome for scenic places and interessting Events in the time of 20th Jan to 29th Feb.

merry christmas and cheers to you all

Hi Spaetzies,
Have just been through test driving all the different enfield models. Liked the Himalayan most. You might want to consider it for your ride.
BW

As far as long range touring motorcycles go, you can select any from RE350-500, Himalayan, Dominar, KTM 390. The advantage with RE/Himalayan being they can accommodate extra luggage/panniers and easy fix problems at any local garage and have company service centers throughout India, and, the dominar/KTM gives you more powerful and smoother riding overall but have less options for luggage but could suit as well if you are traveling light.

Himalayan is best if you also want to include some off-road excursions and the bike is well suited for tall riders. If you are going for Classic then you can do fine with 350 as 500 could be an overkill for single rider and also consumes more petrol.

You can consider the RE Interceptor if cost is not a factor as it gives a superb riding experience with an absolute gem of engine.

Any new bike you buy you will need to factor in for first service in approx 500km distance in your trip.

hi krishna77

thanks for that very good advice on the possible options on bikes i could buy.
Since i am a tall man i consider really to get me the Himalayan.
I wanted to come today to India/Kochi but my Visa wasn't correct.
I ended up going to the indian and german embassy...
This means the Trip couldn't start as i have planned it.

Wish me good luck with the Indian Immigration.

cheers to all

I just got back, and thought I should write something like this. I know people have a lot of apprehension & perceptions about travel in India. I mainly, aside from Goa and a short trip to Mumbai, focused on the north of the country because of the seasons.
