  • A novice in this arena...

Hi this is Harshit from Bangalore. I've been watching threads here at xbhp for quite a while now (Read more seriously after i had to sell off my bike: P200 because of an accident) and posted one or two replies. Now thought of coming up front and interacting with you all and getting to know more things...

I'm working in Wipro Bangalore and planning for my second bike.
Here is the first pic of my first bike

          Thanks a lot to everyone...
Guys I need some suggestions in buying a bike...
I am thoroughly confused. Rather confused would be an understatement as there are not much options to choose right now.
I've got budget around 1-1.3L. I know R15 is the best choice in this budget but i've been riding it for quite a while and somehow its not appealing. It seems to be a delicate/soft machine.
Firstly, there are vibrations in the fairing at lower rpm
Secondly, the rear seat is puny
Thirdly, for a person of my build (6 feet 3 inches) it seems to be a small ride. This has been told to me by many people.
But when i look towards RTR180 same problem of size.

But bikes have ups that one can seriously not ignore.
And Bajaj is a strict NO coz of my previous experience...
          Need help in this regard...

If you say you'd like a bigger bike I can understand, but no way R15 is a delicate bike. Have a look at my last touring thread, its there in my signature.
My bike doesn't have any fairing vibes&it has been extensively used in touring&offroading too.
The pillion seat is bigger than RTR&FZ.

This said, maybe you can wait for the new ZMR.
                Quench my thirst with gasoline!

                  Did u ride the R15?

May be the HH ZMR is an option you have to look at unless the Munjals go greedy and price it way higher!

Try riding bike in RPM range of 3-4.5K in slient sorroundings then maybe you can feel the vibrations.
And for the delicate nature that i said in respect to the shockers. They are pretty soft and bottom out quickly.
We travelled on some off road terrain for some 20km with a pillion and the result could be felt. Its just my observation.

I'd recommend to wait for the new zmr and then decide. Its launch date is very near...and check out this link if you've missed out it in some other thread...We ride the bike that will shake up its segment

The new ZMR i feel is quite a disappoinment as far as i feel.

I have shortlisted 2 bikes for me but problem is not able to finalize as both of them belong to an altogether different league.
                          R15 and Thunderbird Twin spark.

Yes, that's where the bike feels a little harsh if at all you notice it. Another point is near about 6-6.5K RPM but very negligible compared to the 3-4.5K RPM. My Solution, use the lower gears and let the bike pull smooth... don't chug the bike along in higher gears.

The suspension feels soft for the first few MM travel and becomes hard later. That's the way it is designed. AND, it will never bottom out.

What touches the rocks or the speed breakers is the small protrusion downwards from the chassis near the stand. This too doesn't touch so easily. I rode my bike with a 100 KG pillion multiple times and I myself was about 87 KGs then.

The next time I go out I gotta see if my mileage has improved. I am down to 78 now
