  • Hello from NJ

    Hi All,
I am a newbie with the XBHP forum. I live in New Jersey now. I started riding a Royal Enfield when I was 11 (well, I can't honestly say if it qualifies for "RIDING") With my Uncle taking care of the "balancing with the feet" part and me controlling the throttle, clutching and the occasional gear shifting...
What Can I say? I fell in love early and had 14 glorious years in India with motorcycles.
After the family Enfield, I moved on to my first "my own" bike, a rather dated YEZDI 250 that I bought from a friend when his wife was having their first baby and he was looking to buy a Chetak, the quintessential minivan on two wheels! As much as I enjoyed the torque, I couldn't afford to keep up with the routine repairs so, enter the Kawasaki Bajaj 4 Stroke KB-100 in black and streaks of Ninja Green!!
After one year and two disdainful times when the engine had to be worked on under warranty, I off loaded it and got a pre owned Bullet just so I could hear the 'thumpa - thumpa - thumpa" note again any time I wanted; It was a wonderful six month stop gap solution until I got to the US.
Eleven years and 3 sports cars (Honda S2000, Lotus Elise and now the Solara Convertible so I can ride top down with my child without getting arrested) later, I couldn't hold off any longer - It just was not the same without a Motorcycle and I ended up getting a 2008 CBR 600 RR in Pearl Orange 10 months ago...
Life has not been the same since - I look forward to going to work just so I could fire him up and hear him growl!! The last 7 weeks have been nasty with the brutal jersey winter and 20 inch snow days but I cant wait for summer!!!!
I am seriously contemplating my return to Mera Bharat on TR a couple years down the line and it is noice to know thta motorcycles have comem a long way (not long enough thou) in the lat 25 years where the only bikes used to be, Bullet, Yezdi, Mini Bullet and Rajdoot...
    Cheers!!

            BadBB, Haxor and Shivansu,
Thanks for the kind words, Gents - I have posted a pic earlier today under my gallery and it is pending approval - Don't know what the forum rules are here. This is my first desi forum and it appears like everything has to be approved by the mods first - Not an issue with me but, I wonder why?
            Cheers!!

The similarity between air traffic controllers and pilots?
If a pilot fuks it up, the pilot dies.
If ATC fuks it up, the pilot dies. :D

                    @TP - Thank you!
@Wilco - Yes thanks! I will... I am planning to return to India on TR in 18 months time and I cannot fathom leaving behind the CBR... Some lucky guy will be the new owner of the nearly new orange stallion I guess... I am still torn between "Should I bring it back legally of course or just sell it for some $5K, pay another 1 lac on top and get a 250 baby ninja???"...
I sincerely feel that having seen brand NEW 1000RRs and Ducati Monsters being sold for under $8G on road if you time your purchase right(definitely way less than 4 LACS in INR), I just cannot bring myself up to buying those exact same steeds for 3.5 times over... Besides, assuming I get one, where am I going to open it up????

Anyhow, upon my return, assuming I don't bring my bike back, the first purchase I am looking to make in INR would be the baby Ninja for now...

Yes, Wilco said it, goose flesh just about sums it up!!!
This might sound crazy to some, including my neighbors that were staring @ me this AM, but I was out in freezing rain, lubricating the chain (not riding now but just wanted the chain and sprocket shielded from the elements on a regular basis) and idling the engine just to hear the rumble...
I did post a pic in my gallery section but it still hasn't been approved yet - I am sure some of the mumbaikars must have seen the Orange CBRs in the flesh - It is an excellent color scheme with goldish sprangles that show up in reflected light better. It was not exactly a favorite color combo back then since black and Orange makes it halloweeny here but hey!! Would the color red associate Ferrari with Coca cola??
                    Cheers, Bhailog!!!
