I missed the flagoff session though, but it was real fun though I joined midway.

Dragon bhaiya, Cynthia is looking cute with the helmet. Poor me I missed the flag off at Dhankheti. I didn't expected Cynthia to come along. She was having fun i guess with all the Biker uncles and aunts.

Conrad bhaiya, I am waiting for the writeups and the pics.

The 4th of September dawned and the skies were ominous. It was set to be the day for the Road Safety Awareness Campaign, which we had all worked so hard for, to organize. Then, the inevitable happened, the skies gave in, rain began to fall and so did our dampened spirits, as we feared the worst. By the time we all gathered at around 10AM, the down pour was just getting stronger.

But low and behold, half an hour later, we were graced with an unexpected break by the weather gods. The skies started to clear up, and what had seemed to be the impediment became a blessing... showers of blessing. As we, the Meghalaya xBhpians and the Royal Enfield Riders’ Association of Meghalaya (RERAM) saddled up for the event; a great rush ensued: placards, banners and all the requisite paraphernalia were quickly assembled. The enthusiasm that succeeded the rain was contagious, as more and more members turned up, to the point that the turnout of the pillion riders (xBhpians only) exceeded the stipulated number of bikes and riders by the authority. Thus we are in debt to RERAM for accommodating our high-spirited xBhpians as their fellow pillions.

However just as we were all set to get rolling, we realized the pamphlets/flyers weren’t dispatched on time by our generous printing partner; due to, as we were informed, technical problems. At this point we were feeling the heat as the DSP, Mr. H. G. Lyngdoh, our chief guest was getting impatient to flag off the event but the pamphlets kept us all waiting. Thanks to our members: Abby, Daniel and Derrick in conveying the 5000 flyers on bikes through the heavy traffic jam.

When the pamphlets finally arrived and were distributed among participants, the skies blessed us a bit more with rain. But as RERAM member, Mark Shullai, had expressed, “Diehard bikers never realise that it rains, once they get going”. And with that the DSP gave us a short instruction, encouragement, wave off the flag and there we go! It was a moment of pride, as the DSP who has always been an avid biker himself right from his youth, led us with his ‘Bajaj Avenger’ through the route.

The police escorts were very active and indispensable with their service throughout as they controlled oncoming vehicles from disrupting our formation and ride. And not to forget all our pillion riders who not only held the placards but also distributed the flyers to the motorists. Without their participation and interaction with the motorists it wouldn’t have been possible at all for the event to be a success. Kudos to them all!

We had covered most of the streets of Shillong before we halted infront of the State PHE building, at Lachumiere for a quick photo session. We then headed for our refreshments to Laban Sports Club ground, were had our fill, quenched our thirst and interacted among ourselves before we thanked everyone for making the event, memorable and a success. We also thanked our Sponsors before we all dispersed:
                    Goenka Bajaj,
                    Meghalaya Times,
                    Eastern Panorama,
                    Addidas,
                    Bombay Biites,
Two Wheel Centre & Spinnin Wheelz and
                    Automation India

Later on the remaining flyers were handed over to Goenka Bajaj showroom and Two Wheel Centre to be distributed to all the motorcyclists.

We thank again each and every member of xBhp who had contributed in making this Rally a success. The list of fellow participants is as follows:
